    Yes a 2023 CX-5 Oil Change Thread

It's probably the short OCI that kept it so clean. Had you gone 7k or 8k miles there'd probably be a little more varnish build up in there. Nice!

I never really gave that much thought but it is warranted in today's market. Totally agree and appreciate your perspective.

    Yes a 2023 CX-5 Oil Change Thread

Agreed. The longer oil change intervals are related to CAFE standards and the appearance of a car being more maintenance free, nothing more. The government wants less waste oil floating around. The shorter the OCI, the less problems you'll have when you hit that 200k mile mark. It's important to...

The last time I bought a few Thailand filters was a few years ago, they were around $8 from my dealer. I just picked up a few from my dealer a few days ago....$11 with a 15% off coupon!! Geez!

Advice on this stunning light display (2015 CX-5)

Yes, batteries on the newer cars with all the electronic gizmos are typically good for 4 years. you may get more, but on my CX5 I change them out at 4 years. Cheap insurance to not have to chase bogus codes. Now on my Scion it's going on 7 years, still tests strong surprisingly after the hot...

    Switched to 5W-30 from 0W-20

The old days being when? Oil companies change their formulations almost on a yearly basis. I've used both, currently Castrol 5w-30, and not have noticed any deposits. The deposit you saw sounds like water vapor condensing on the cap due to the car not getting hot enough to burn it off. Just a...

    Interesting read on the CX-5

Spot on IMO. It's everything I've experienced or read about. Love my 2016.5. Found the trans reset video interesting. Dealership comment is telling also. Still not a fan the EPB.

Make sure you request a Master tech look at it. These are the reasons why I don't like my car being disassembled for complex warranty work.

CAFE rules are in every aspect of the what car manufacturers come up with as far as oil maintenance schedules in this country. Here's another Lake Speed video about CAFE and "break-in oil". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4424Q5lLR8

Why do dealers do this? Overfill oil then argue?

Exactly why I always do my own and never have a garage do it. I don't care if they are free. A dealer replaced my oil pan years ago, I got the car back and it was a quart over the fill line. I brought it back and made them drain the excess out.
