    Cracked Engine Block (2018 CX-5)

I wouldn’t trust their word unless they’re willing to put it in writing.

    CX-5 Cracked Engine

No, a loose oil filler cap has nothing to do with your cracked cylinder head. Even if the cap is indeed loose, it won’t have too much oil coming out if the cap is still on the filler hole. The oil lost that way is minimum which is in no way to make the head to crack! Besides, low oil level...

    Warranty extension for fail-safe thermostat

it’s possible. But we don’t know if those 2.5L NA’s in 2024 CX-5 has all the CD plumbings (hence it has collar control valve) but got disabled by the software, or it’s the previous 2.5L NA used in 2017 or prior CX-5’s. The VIN could have indicated the existence of the CD, but we still don’t...

Backup Sensors Not Working? Hit A Car! :(

    Yes, it’s my fault that I didn’t tell her our CX-5 doesn’t have parking sensors ⋯ 🤪

    Warranty extension for fail-safe thermostat

Yes the “coolant control valve” with an internal thermostat in question is only used on the 2.5L NA with CD. 2.5T has traditional thermostat housing.

Backup Sensors Not Working? Hit A Car! :(

It’s funny that when my wife backed her CX-5 into the neighbor’s wooden fence and broke the tail lens a while ago, she also said she was expecting some warning beeps when the car was getting close to the fence. She’s talking about rear parking sensors on our 2000 BMW 528i, but unfortunately...

Yes, the head has never got updated on the 2.5L NA with CD.

    CX-5 Cracked Engine

Yes, cylinder head cracking may be happening after Mazda modified the 2.5L NA head for cylinder deactivation which is used in your 2018 CX-5. The cracked area is different from the 2.5T, and an oil leak instead of coolant leak is the symptom. The cylinder head is cracked at exhaust manifold...

Mazda CEO says American drivers want ICE vehicles

So why your personal Tesla EV experience is fine and my personal experience on EVs in a “foreign country” is a “propaganda”? Wife had a co-worker and she drove her Tesla Model 3 from LA to Dallas a couple of years ago. She had to follow a specific route by the App or she might get...

2017 CX-5 GT Interior Mirror Loose or Normal?

Same here. l’m eventually getting tired of it and just let it loose. Be aware not to tighten the T20 bolt more than specified torque value (15 in-lb, NOT 15 ft-lb!) or you may break the windshield based on a Mazda’s service advisory.

2013~2016 CX-5 Skyactiv 2.5L Crank No Start (unless throttle to the floor)

I hope you’d replaced the hydraulic lift adjuster on that fallen intake rocker arm, or it could happen again.

Mazda CEO says American drivers want ICE vehicles

Before EVs can be more popular, infrastructure definitely needs to be ready, at least in the metropolitan area. And that definitely is lacking in the US currently. More advanced batteries used on EVs with longer range and fast charging are necessary too. Unfortunately we can’t see such advanced...

2013~2016 CX-5 Skyactiv 2.5L Crank No Start (unless throttle to the floor)

No, it’s highly unlikely. Failing hydraulic lift adjuster should be the culprit.

2013~2016 CX-5 Skyactiv 2.5L Crank No Start (unless throttle to the floor)

Fallen rocker arm on cylinder #4? It’s the problem happened on the 2.5L NA with cylinder deactivation before the recall! What model year is your CX-5?

    Oil Leak at 7400 miles (2024 CE T CX-5)

Well, Mazda modified the original cylinder head of the 2.5L NA for the turbo, and weakened certain area which had trouble to support the long and heavy SkyActiv-G exhaust manifold and cracked the head with coolant leak. Mazda had to modify (re-design) the cylinder head to reinforce the cracked...

Wow, it’s the first time we saw such problrm here for the 2.5T! Thanks for the update.

Just got a 2016.5 CX-5 - Tips, Tricks and MPG

If your CX-5’s build date is 05/15, you have a 2016 CX-5. 2016.5 CX-5 is started on 02/16 build date. Your 19 mpg in city for a 2.5L AWD definitely isn’t good. My 2016 CX-5 GT AWD for city driving can constantly get ~24 mpg which is close to the EPA rating of 24. But my 2016 CX-5 2.5L AWD...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Gotta love contradictory statements by Mazda: "The level is normal if it is between the MIN and MAX marks." "If it is near or below MIN, add enough oil to bring the level to MAX.” Here is from Mazda Workshop Manual: This’s fine with 0.48 quart of gear oil to fill the front transfer case to...
