I installed mine without tapping into any wires. If you get the right harness i believe the wire tap is only required if you want the function if having the light flashes during remote start, which I didn’t really care for.

I didn’t think the CX-9 ever came with wireless carplay. If i am correct that means that you can make call and play music wirelessly through bluetooth, but if you want to have carplay show on the screen you need to connect with a wire.
