A little confusion even after reading headunit/harness post.

when you by an aftermarket H/U you get a plug with it that just has wires on it, and you buy a wiring harness. that harness is the plug matched to your car, so you solder and shrink tube all the wires (all color coded and with a key sheet, very easy). then your aftermarket HU plugs directly into...

    Scion HU in Protege'?

by all means, go for it then! I'm sure it can be done. it just may be somewhat of a hassle. I'd want to make sure I could get the deck to fit in the din securely before I started wiring it, though.

    Scion HU in Protege'?

you need some special keys, or really just like 4 long skinny-ish rods. there are a few holes that are slightly concealed but you basically stick the keys in there and pull it out. I'm pretty sure you can buy the keys for just a few dollars at walmart or something. an dI dont think you'd be able...

    Ball joints question

is your car making alot of noise/ rattling/ clunking? if not I wouldnt really worry too much about it. and if its a 3rd gen you prolly cant replace the ball joints alone. you'd need to replace the entire lower control arm. you can get a set of them for less than $150 on ebay. and its only like 3...

    getting frustrated with this vibrating.

yeah, thats what I figured. and rock auto it is that is not a bad price at all. thanks for the suggestion. and I might as well just replace all the pads and both the rotors. no sense on being stingy with something like brakes. 170,000 miles is alot... I know this. if I could get $3000 for it...

    getting frustrated with this vibrating.

That makes a whole lot of sense. I guess I didnt think about it like that. I'll look into it next week. and I just replaced the pass. side. it had a tear, and was clicking. I may, or may not look into the driv. side. we'll see. after physical inspection of it, it seemed alright. and I am sure...

    getting frustrated with this vibrating.

yeah, everything was toast. and I had the tired rotated last night, and I do feel like that made a pretty big difference. I got it to about 80... and I mean there was traffic, so I was focused on not crashing but it seemed pretty alright. next week I'll have the tires re-balanced. see if that...

    getting frustrated with this vibrating.

I actually replaced the tie-rod ends and got an alignment yesterday... and it made it ALOT better. but its still not great. next on the list is def the brakes. but they look like they have alot of life left on them. maybe I'll just have the rotors turned. and wheel rebalancing would prolly...
