certainly do NOT use anything but a spring compressor. The springs have enough tension in them to penetrate a cinder block wall with relative ease. don't try to jerryrig it.

Welcome! (back) :) Glad to see someone else who's made the move from Honda to Mazda. You won't be disappointed, the MP5 does eat a little more than you might expect(In my opinion mind you), but all in all its a car that I plan to hold on to until It or I die.

I have the whole how to printed out with pictures and everything.....that way I had a manual to do it with right there beside me. And it was glorious; however you really need to watch out for the bumper clips that attach to your headlamp assembly....I had to buy a new one after doing this mod...

where are you located? If you're on the island I can suggest a great mechanic, but if you have to jump the strait to get here then its probably not worth the $$
