Installing US roof rails on non US CX-5

I have a how to here for US-CAN CX5, pictures may help you... http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123815898-Roof-Rails but for people outside US-Can it is another ball game since the black brackets do not exist. I am sure it can be done, but personally if I was to do it I would do...

Show me your Winter Wheels and tire combos.

I do not have any tools to measure the sound level and I have been running studded winter tires for the last 10 years (Subaru WRX-Mistu Outlander-CX5 2013 and now a CX5-2016) so for me the sound is normal (on dry asphalt people hear me come, not a bad thing). It is very difficult to judge from...

    2016 Constant squeaking brakes

same thing here, mine squeak as well in the first few miles at low speed but it doesn't bother me enough to go to the dealer.

yes they pretty much were a direct bolt on, I just added a center bore centering rings (provided with the wheels 73mm to 67.1mm) to reduce the center bore of the wheels to better fit Mazda size. The bolt patterns needs to be 5x114.3 and the offset depends on how wide is your rim, but usually...

Anyone had to replace the GPS antenna ?

Well it was not the antenna, the firmware was the issue. I was on v55.750 (flashed by myself), and they installed v55.753 (solved the problem) :)

How long do OEM tires last?

I laughed, but it is the only explanation I can find, our roads are terrible here, and probably the texture is also very abrasive due to the winter we have. But I have nothing scientific to back it up.

How long do OEM tires last?

wow some of you guys are really gentle on tires! on my 2013 gt, the Toyo A23 lasted about 48,000 KM not miles, they had at that point less than 4/32 left with very even wear. I do not consider myself hard on tires, especially with the 2013 2.0l which is not a rocket! So I am surprised when I...

Anyone had to replace the GPS antenna ?

Hi, I am just curious if anyone had to replace the GPS antenna ? I have a 2016 GT with the tech pack and active sens. my navigation stopped working last week, the system works , I see the maps, but I do not move from home. The satellite screen says no satellite available which is weird. I...

I have studded tires because i live on the Quebec side. Are studded needed, probably not, but they saved my butt a few times coming to a red light with unexpected black ice. just for those moments I will keep studded tires, and the technology has evolved so much, the hakka 8 are much better...

I am running Nokian Hakka 7 studded on Fast 17" wheels....love it so far, 4th winter on them this winter (3 on my 2013 cx-5 and it will be my first on the 2016) and still a lot of thread.

    The Subaru Outback Wins

GettinLm let it go, it is not worth it to argue. there is no prize to win here. You made your choice base on your taste and your research, you have done your homework. Some here have a hard time understanding things and know better than anyone on anything.

    The Subaru Outback Wins

You can find problems on any car brand doing a web search, it doesn't mean it is general problem with the car, I am sure I could find oil consumption problems on a GM-Nissan-toyota..etc... even here we find people with engine-transmission problems with their Cx-5, would you say all cx-5 have...

    The Subaru Outback Wins

Well I have been on Subaru forums for over 10 years and I still go there everyday because I like the Subaru community, I had 2 subies. Let me tell you this is the first time I hear that there is a problem with H6 from subies, and on Forums problems pop up a lot (just look at 2.5L problems)...

    The Subaru Outback Wins

H6 are not oil burning what the heck are you talking about ? It is probably one of the most reliable engine around, and it is butter smooth. H4 2.5L are Subaru engines with problems, the oil pump seems not big enough to lubricate cylinder 4 in a lot of situation. A Leak Down test is a must...

    What's the ordering process like??

I am ok with that, but that is not what I was told unfortunately. We would have made a different choice if we had known. They had a date of May 20th, told me + or - 3 days..... They got it but only virtually, I have a hard time understanding how the system works. For me the vin should be scan at...

    What's the ordering process like??

probably less long in the US..I am still waiting for mine, I am in week 8 right now (I was told 4-6 weeks). The worst part is that the car is in stock in their system but they do not have it and they do not know where it is....go figure.

    The Subaru Outback Wins

it is a personal choice, if you go with the subie, just do not get the 2.5l, those 2.5l are not Subaru best engines. I had 2 subies, head gasket on the 2.5l are to be done around the end of the warranty and there are a lot of horror stories on their 2.5. I would not have peace of mind buying...

    2016 CX5, Cherokee or???

AWD with no good contact to the ground (snow tires) is as useless as poop flavor popsicles in winter...sorry for the analogy, but AWD doesn't work and cannot do it's job if you have no traction in winter. I live in Quebec , I know what I am talking about. I fully agree here with Mike M.. I...

    2016 CX-5 and Canoes

I am carrying two 16' kayaks on Thule bars using the Mazda roof rails, and I am using the front tow hook to attach them. I have done multiple 200km+ trip without any issues. I am surprised the tow hooks are not included, I got three in mine, short, medium long.

    Trailer hitch and bike carrier

I would definitively go for a 2" (less than 200$), very easy to install yourself, I did it alone and it took less than 30min. If I had someone with me we could have drop this to 15min (easier if someone hold the hitch while you place the bolts)
