Tein S-Tech springs installed (with pics)

Hey all. After 1 year + 4 months and 24k miles I FINALLY lowered my car. I went with the Tein S-Tech springs since everyone seemed to like them and folks said they ride near stock. Installed them yesterday with a buddy's help and only ran into a few snags along the way (damn those swaybar...

Nice bike man! I rode an '03 SV650s this summer, but unfortunately had to sell it last month. I hope to buy something used come spring...maybe a late 90s ZX-6R...buddy has one and it's really nice...comfy too. Here's the pic of my ex....:( miss her. This was my first season of riding, so...

What kind of bad paint is Mazda using???

Stongard rules. I put Stongard on my car less than a month after I got it. I have had the car about 1 year 4 months and 23k miles and have NO chips on the front bumper, hood, mirrors...come to think of it I have no chips anywhere. Makes the $600 initial investment worth it...

Who is having idle problems / stalling?

My car has never stalled, but sometimes it idles low...in the 500 RPM range. Shakes the car a little bit but most annoying it causes the PS to loose boost pressure sometimes suprising me when turning into a driveway or something. I plan to ask about it during my next oil change. BTW, my car...

    Alpine CDA-9813 won't fit?

One more question. I've heard because these decks have such a high power internal amp you need to run 10 gauge wire straight from the battery to their + wire. True? Thanks again all. Nate

    Alpine CDA-9813 won't fit?

Hey all, been a while since I've posted here. I got a killer deal on an Alpine CDA-9813 head unit from a buddy. However when I go to Crutchfield to order a wiring harness, their page and tech guy say it won't fit my '02 Protege5. They say the deck opening is too short for this deck. Their...

    Wind Flectors and Tint

I tinted my windows last week and really like the results. I went with 35% all around as that's the max legal here and I am not a real big fan of real dark tint. It cost me $260 + tax to have it done around here...tint is expensive in Seattle area for some reason. Here are a few pics:

    May have fixed door rattle!

Getting it off is pretty easy. I can do it in less than 3 minutes now. 1) Remove tweeter assembly (on 2002.5 models). Just grab the housing and pull off. Unclip wiring harness. 2) Remove screw from front of inside handle. Pull on front part of handle and twist up...pull front part out...

    May have fixed door rattle!

Turns out that didn't fix the problem, but it did make it less severe. I spent some more time trying stuff and I do not think it is something internal to the door. I believe it is either the door panel touching something, the door jam plastic trim which covers the seatbelt reel between the...

    May have fixed door rattle!

It aint the prettiest fix, but I think it works so far. Like many owners I had a very annoying "tick tick, tick tick tick, tick tick" noise in my driver side door when driving along. It didn't only happen on bumps and was very annoying. Happened most often when the moonroof was open, or when...

    was anyone else excited

I got the little keychain light too, and actually have used it several times! I also got a certificate for a free bottle of touch up paint, but I already bought one... Little touches that count. FWIW, I believe you get the pack when you send in the dealer survey.

    Breaking in the Engine

Um, :bs:. Read http://www.mobil1.com/experts/factory_fill.jsp Lots of cars (high performance) ship with synthetic. Also, oil doesn't "grab" any particles, that's what the filter does. Those particles are mearly suspended in the oil, which will occur with anything you use. :)

    rattles

I've got 3 rattles that I know of. One behind the glove box that is kinda loud, but doesn't happen very often (only above 45 MPH or so on a certain type of pavement, very coarse). The other two are the front two side windows, that rattle very quietly sometimes. Only hear the passenger side...

How do you feel about reliability?

FWIW I believe the main/only reason Mazda allowed Ford to buy a controlling share (Ford owns 33%) is that Mazda was in big financial trouble several years back and needed some bail out. Same with Jag and Volvo I believe. If Ford had not stepped in Mazda would probably not have the $ to make...
