Swaybars & the best way to attach them???

If you have the ability to do so mount on the strut. This will be the most effective for a couple of reasons. If mazda designed the 3rd gen protege as they have for the rest of their strut suspended cars, then the strut draws a line that centers on the lower control arms ball joint. As the...

FYI: 15x10" wheels for $210/per on miata.net (FSP/DSP guys this means you)

http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=254511&page=1&pp=25 Just passing this on. Emilo had mentioned the possibility of making these wheels but his timeline was a bit too far in the future for me. As I recall he said he would have them in 4x100 and an outside possibility of 5x114.3 as...

    Big Brakes Finally!

Is this actually what Jeff said? I took it as some good natured ribbing from another brother-in-arms STX MS protege owner. Maybe Im wrong though <shrug>. This is an interesting discussion as I am actually involved in a factfinding mission regarding brake bias in the 88-92 MX6. The end result is...

    MX-6 AutoX/Track Potential

Its in the motorsports catalogue and then have to be scratch built. I got a quote of $7400 for the triple adjustable motons. JRZ also has specs that they used for the old Mirko Racing Mazda 626s that ran in the older speedvision series. Those can be replicated for $7600? I didnt call penske. Gavin

    MX-6 AutoX/Track Potential

D00d, wait, what? but but but.... Miata. Crunchy goodness. You were supposed to......I mean, no... _sigh_. I think its clear that this has gone horribly wrong somehow.(see you were supposed to chose the miata :) ). Yes, the MX6 and the Probe share the same running gear so one can be swapped...

    MX-6 AutoX/Track Potential

Paul Leonard and Evan Leonard(with the MX6). Paul use to have an ESP Mustang cobra convertable until he bought the BMW and saw the light. Evan, by his own accounts, didnt really have a full go at the car as he could have in terms of prep. Gavin

    MX-6 AutoX/Track Potential

why are my ears burning? I actually have two 1st gen(88-92)MX6s. The daily driver/GS pseudo-racecar and a 91 which is the DSP car. I only have knowledge of the 2nd gen car in a removed sense since I have never owned one. That said, heres my thoughts.... Anything mazda is not a bad thing...

    Extended Shifter Project

Not bad. Here are a couple other options... http://www.fastlineperformance.com/shifter.htm Although its made with Honda products in mind(the shifter ball is slightly different from the diameter of the mazda)it can be made to fit with minimal modification of the cups and the linkage mount...

Section12.14 is a definition not an allowance. What you are looking for is the updated listing of what livelyjay posted. 15.10e) Compressor bypass valves (CBVs) are considered part of the air intake system, and may be replaced or updated/ backdated independently of the other components of a...

Stiff springs + tall sidewall = tire bounce?

The same length as the Stock protege struts? Or the same length as the single adjustable inserts used by AWR. Not sure exactly what strut AWR uses in their kit. EDIT: Never mind, found it http://www.msprotege.com/vbb230/showthread.php?t=123629955&page=3 dschnell...boost leak? Gavin

Stiff springs + tall sidewall = tire bounce?

Just to reconfirm, you are using single adjustable inserts correct? If so I believe that Jeff is using the double adjustable inserts which (as said) are basically one length whereas the SAs may be of different lengths. Gavin

Stiff springs + tall sidewall = tire bounce?

In the "why didnt I think of that" category you can do what Ron Bauer did with his CSP NC miata..get some replacement front fenders to hack up. The rear fenders..well, you are on your own there. Did you get to check the fully extended height of the AWR inserts(compared to the length of the...

Stiff springs + tall sidewall = tire bounce?

Topping out the struts is a strange one but very much could be a possibility given size of the tires. Do you know the fully extended length of the AWR konis? Say you had tires that were wide enough that you had to raise the ride height to clear the fenders and then AWR shortens the strut...

Stiff springs + tall sidewall = tire bounce?

Its a pretty wide tire and a relatively light car...38psi seems pretty high. Id be closer to the factory recomendations. That said, I dont think thats the cause of your bouncing though, from your description of whats happening to the car something else is off. Gavin

Stiff springs + tall sidewall = tire bounce?

1..your tires and pressures are goofy, but that just a distraction more than anything 2..you said that you took the struts apart, did you try to compress/extend the shafts fully to see if there was any resistance/choppiness/inconsistency? (mungled piston) 3..talk to Lee. He looks to have you...

Advantages of shorter springs / pre-load

Actually I have heard of eibach. I have not seen a 6.5" spring from them however. Perhaps this is a specific application that I have not seen or a new item. Either way, Thats not terribly relevant(except to say that your choices will be 6" springs or 7+" springs) You still havent answered the...
