actually you can use any V6 tranny with any V6. for us 1st gen guys we have to use a V6 MX3 tranny, with either a klze, klde, kfze, kfde, k8 or whatever. there all interchanable

the V6 does not bolt right into the escort/protege/323 you need the motor mounts/axles/crossmember/shift linkage from a V6 MX3. were just lucky that the MX3 is a BG and mazda happened to share the V6 block from the MX6 with the BG chasis like the protege/323/escort. so there is a "carry over"...
