If you do some searches, there are some really detailed instructions on this forum. My first try at the boost gage install went pretty smoothly....so you may want to give it a try.

how about Stage 3 w/ FMIC, hardpipes, & SRI? Still not much difference except on the track? Will there be reduced risk for detonation with the lower intake temps?

Wow, those people must be the worst drivers in the world! There are plenty of stock MSPs that have hit 15.3 or better.

love driving this car...just wish there were more winding roads near me to get the most out of it. So much more fun to drive than the Jetta VR6 I traded in for it.

When I installed my gauge, I was surprised to see that boost was up (> 3psi) at even half throttle.

Audi A4...BMW 330...how is that in the same market as an MSP. Why didn't you pick up an RX8?

You guys are really lucky if your stock MSP runs 8psi. Just about everyone else says it tops out at 6.5. I think a couple extra psi of boost is significant because this engine has the same internals as the base (130hp). I'm sure the design margin was just about used up with the turbo set at...

Increasing the load is a problem that would definitely reduce engine life, but that's not the real issue. The problem is that 6.5 psi is right at the limit for knock under certain atmospheric conditions. Increasing boost increases the risk of detonation.
