    Exhaust manifold removal help

as long as the needle didnt peg all the way and you shut it off, it should be ok. I had a blown radiator and mine got pretty hot but my hg didnt blow. its when the needle gets to the very top of the gauge thats its no bueno. the gasket itself isnt too expensive, its the labor that will kill you...

    Exhaust manifold removal help

did you shut it off right away? overheating is very bad for heads. if its warped, you will need to get it decked true or no new gasket will help.

    Exhaust manifold removal help

If you have coolant in the oil pan, thats a pretty sure sign its the HG since its not sealing the water jacket and cylinders. Unless i change the coolant frequently, it gets darker like that. but, its hard to tell from the picture if there's oil in there. luckily we have a multi layered steel...

    Exhaust manifold removal help

iif it its the HG, change the oil and see if there's coolant in the oil, otherwise it might just be rust or sediment.

heat shield is like 3 rusty bolts but you will only be able to move it out of the way cause the 02 sensor and hot pipe. you can see them right on top (warning: due to heat cycling, they may snap too). If its even with the mani thats good, if its set into the mani hole, thats not as good. but if...

did it snap off flush with the manifold? If it did when you take the mani off you can just get a vice grip on there and get it out. If it snapped off flush with the head, thats where it gets uglier. As long as the gasket isnt dented or blown out you can reuse it (its metal). Its a pretty big job...

tec 2 standalone in a msp

ive installed a tec3 on a diff car back in the 90's so that tec2 must be old. Im sure it will work ok, the only problem might be losing some creature comforts like ac and gauges if you run it full standalone. You can always run it as a piggy for fuel and timing and let the stock ECU handle the...

what should i focus on doing next? Mani-Exhaust-W.B.

I second the corksport 2.5". If their can is too loud (for me it was with officers) you can use the stock MSP muffler section with it. Thats what i did, its quiet and much less restrictive than stock. The MSP muffler section piping is larger than the rest of the piping so you dont have to worry...

If it need to be spaced really close to the midpipe to not rattle you can invest in some urethane exhaust hangars to minimize movent as well. Thats another option. unless you have them. then cut. cut till it fits. :)

Did you do anything to the exhaust side of the engine? Beleive it or not, i had an exhaust leak on my CS s to j pipe and got the same code. It will also lean the car out (verified by my wideband, with leak i was hitting 17 afr idle), and messes with idle and vac. I assume its cause the cars...

Squeaking! Car sounds like a hay wagon!

The problem with the MSP bushings is i guess the way the sway bar is mounted it ruins the inside of the bushings faster than normal. They made revisions but it still doesnt help. If you look inside the bushings the oem ones have a teflon (i think teflon) insert to help but once it wears out they...

Im pretty sure its called a fuel pulsation dampner not pressure. From what i remember that keeps the flow smooth, cause not all injectors fire at the same time, it creates pulsation in the fuel so that unit counteracts the pulseations and creates a smoother flow. Id imagine it wouldnt be the...

I am. Well corksport front and rear, and AWR side and Xmission. They are a great alternative to AWR. the corksport front and rears combined are less than the awr's least durometer front in terms of vibration.

well you are one of the lucky ones, ive seen quite a few blow at much lower hp. Have you seen our rods? They look like babyback rib bones lol I was just pointing out that its not really a boost supported engine, i mean base it has what 110-120whp? so you being at 280 more than doubles the...

What have you done to your MSP today?

Precisely, i mean alot of our engines blow up cause we up the boost, mod it, etc. Its just a regular protege engine. Mazda did nothing to support the boost. Once you start upping the HP, its pretty much a time bomb. Meth helps, but the block just doesnt support alot of hp. Dont get me wrong, i...
