The Mazda's is much more mild so the powerband is much more natural. You can kind of tell by the engine size's and power numbers. For example, Honda makes 200 hp even 240 hp from the 2.0 L in the rsx type s and old S2000. The Mazda3 makes 160 hp from 2.3L.

a lot of people like the clutch that light because it's easier to modulate the lighter it is. Of course this comes at a price as the clutch can't take much abuse or power. Stock for stock, they are both nice fwd cars. You aren't insane for getting one or the other.

The GTI is quite a faster car, esp if you buy the VR6. However, VW's are cars that are quite problematic and have wierd quirks built into them. I don't know if they took it out, but you used to need a freeking special tool that was real hard to use to take out the spark plugs.

You can lower compression you know for the rsx-s. I never thought of the 3 as much of a fast car. Nimble maybe. But it has a better interior that the rsx-s by far imo. If you want a faster car, get an rsx-s. If you want a car that's nicer inside and outside that is nimble and has 4/5 doors to...
