What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Nope, no airbags, and the bumper did it's job perfectly. Zip ties are cheaper!!

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

What have I done to my Mazda 5? 🤦‍♂️ Sad day indeed. '07/90k and running fine, even still drives unaffected... but insurance is calling it a "total loss." Madness! 😡

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Aw that's awful! I've nearly been hit in a similar situation someone backing up. One way to take the repair cost down is rely on color matched parts from recycled/refurbished suppliers. Bodywork shops will be able to source it. When a basketball hoop blew down on my 5, they body shop sourced a...

Yah, that sounds about the age*miles for it.

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

What year and mileage? It not uncommon for weldseams and gaskets to leak after the compression and vibrations. That you feel heat down in the footwell points to a failure in the area. OE may cost more but they're much better quality than most aftermarket exhaust parts.

That look fantastic! What model radio is that? I haven't seen a dash kit like that, for max sized screens before either.

    Ignition falling out (2006 Mazda5)

+1 for a McGyver solution. I read the whole "Security and locks" section of the service manual and didn't see any mention of the receiver antenna ring being tuned, other than "Replacing the coil antenna: It is not necessary to reset the immobilizer system." 🤷‍♂️

    Ignition falling out (2006 Mazda5)

Taken from my 2007, also 1st gen, service manual. From what you described, sounds like the antenna rings is loose, probably from plastic retaining tabs being brittle and snapping. Replacing that part doesn't look all that hard. But until you go in there and inspect what's broken you don't know...

Tried to do a stereo upgrade...

Bump! Yeah, put this in over decade ago and it's still working 100%. Pioneer AVH-3400 (w/ BT and HD radio), some entry level Kenwood 3-ways all 'round, and disconnected the stock tweeters. Nice to be able to tweak the radio's accent lighting to match the display overhead, and drop in a...

    1st Gen Mazda5 aging issues?

With another door handle failed, and half the brittle clips breaking when removing interior panels, I'm starting to wonder how many more surprise ageing issues are going to appear. It's a '07 but just 80k miles. Having tires, brakes, and shocks due over the next year, so anyore surprises might...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Thanks! After trying so many headlight restore kits that last 6-8 months, I think it's time to switch it up and use a clear coat!

@zedebra 2 years later, how is the Spraymax clear holding up? I'm thinking of doing the same.

    Mazda5 Stalling out when idling/stopped

+1 for a cleaner, especially if you've never done that before, Royal Purple has a 10,000 mile one. Regular stalling can the the MAF sensor is dirty, a very easy fix. It's easy to get to, remove, and just use a MAF Sensor cleaner spray you can get at any car store.

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Luckily that was a mud track. In my 5 Google sent me down a very coarse gravel track, like 1" to 2" pieces. One of the stones popped up and got lodged between a rear pad and rotor and gouged the rotor bad enough to need replacing. I'll take mud any day!

    2007 Mazda5 Suspect MAF

TL;DR - Probably best to clean your MAF regularly, 10k/12 months. Pulled the MAF and it looked clean.. until I turned it around and saw the upstream side caked on crud (whatever gets through the intake filter?!). Grabbed a can of MAF cleaner and let rip until it was all cleaned off. Once it...

    2007 Mazda5 Suspect MAF

Simply, readings aren't 100% kosher: IAT is reading 20°F high, MAF is idle 2.3-2.5 which is quite high. I know the BCM *learns* the sensor and translates it to performance but those are notabley off numbers. What has me looking at the MAF? Idling during warm up is rough, dog rough, and if...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

On thing to consider is how *broke* it actually is. If the board itself is broken, a new case won't make a difference. If it blinks but doesn't open/close doors it's lost its ID. and a dealer *might* agree to reprogram that for you. Usually cars have to reprogram all keys and fobs at one time.
