They are only doing diagnostic to find the cause of the detonation. I figured that wont be too bad. The thing is I dont know a local mechanic I trust. I need to go looking. I was going to pay a forum member to drive from Atlanta to do the work.

Won't know what is damaged till Mazda tears it down tomorrow. Then I will know what to do.

My opinion is that's ok. I had my set at about 10 and the spike killed me.

Yeah. The 7500 is crazy. I think thats based on a complete crate motor with turbo and all. The said about 5000 for the motor and the rest in labor.

Yeah. I have had nothing but problems with it since I got it, mostly small stuff, like no heat..no dash lights..temp guage quit working..rear sway bar bushings rotted off..radio quit..that kinda crap.

Thanx. I will go look at this stuff right now. I will not screw this up again. I still think my actuator went bad and caused a huge spike. Maybe they will tell me tomorrow.
