    Big sub setup :D

One sub is all you'll ever need. Grab a JBL BP1200.1 amplifier one of the following: 15" Brahma AL-1804

    rms power range

I'd almost agree. Point #2 s/b - overpowering w/clean signal = bad (or boom!) (boom05) Sending a speaker more power than its capable of handling, even if it has no clipping at all, will still damage the speaker. I think it's really more of a perception. Most people don't understand that...

    rms power range

Let's take a look at the article: Alright, he's described clipping and has given an example how clipping can blow a speaker - Overpowering (Too much energy is flowing through the speaker's motor structure) He's describing how a low powered amp can blow a speaker through clipping -...

    rms power range

Note: This post is directed at no-one. I'm just trying to help debunk one of the biggest car audio myths out there (besides my HU puts out 60x4). ;) "Underpowering" will never, ever, ever, ever, ever damage a speaker. Do your speakers suddenly blow when you turn down the volume? Of course...

Free Sirius Tuner and Antenna for Mazdaspeed Owners

Just letting everyone know that this offer is still open. I just ordered the free tuner and antenna today (I'm unsure if there's shipping charges, forgot to ask). The activation fee is $5 on-line or $15 by phone. There's also a deal out now where you'll get 15 months of service by paying 12...

    help me pick an amplifier

That's true. But, their amps are ridiculously overpriced and don't double the power when the load is halved, which can be good or bad depending on the situation. In any case, I really like the power/size ratio of the 250/1.

    help me pick an amplifier

Because you've got a sub with a 4ohm SVC, your best bet would be purchasing a 2ch amp and running it in bridged mode to the sub. For value-priced amplifiers, I'd look into US Acoustics, JBL, or the Lanzar Opti-Drives. They all pack a great watt/$ ratio and are reliable, well-built...

    MSP sub replacement questions

Maybe this will be my excuse to finally get a router and circle jigs. I'll let you all know on Sunday the thickness and results.

    MSP sub replacement questions

Because then I would be making it. I don't have a router with a circle jig either, or I'd probably do it. I might freehand one with the jigsaw if I get some time this weekend.

    MSP sub replacement questions

They've got a lot of different thicknesses available. I think it's about the easiest for them to machine something up for me too.

Turbo a miata or buy a MSM

http://www.greddyturbofaqs.com/ The kit is more than a turbo and manifold. It's complete, it's just not a complete 15psi monster like the FMII kit. If you stay at the base boost level of 5psi and do a couple small modifications (relief cuts on manifold, upgraded bolts, cheap crossover pipe...

    MSP sub replacement questions

I might have my father-in-law make me a spacer ring out of aluminum at his machine shop. I'll just need to figure out the minimum thickness.

Turbo a miata or buy a MSM

You can pick up a new Greddy kit for $1200. Then get an intercooler kit from www.15psi.com for $300. You'll also need an MSD ignition retarder $130 with a Bipes for $200. With these items for a total of about $1800 + another few hundred for odds and ends (guages, upgraded bolts, heat...

    MSP sub replacement questions

It would probably work. The MSP enclosure has a cone-shaped basket which can't be removed without really messing up the enclosure. You'd probably need a 1/2" spacer at minimum. Maybe I'll mess around with it next weekend and come up with some specifics. 10 TB subs? How about a pair of the...

    MSP sub replacement questions

Just wanted to note that the TB sub (Tang Band W8-740C) does not fit in the stock MSP box. Its magnet is too large in diamater. For the heck of it I tried swapping out the Kenwood sub with one of these TB subs (have a couple sitting in the closet). No fit.

Better audio quality in the MP3?

Your best bet would be a modest 4ch amp along with some form of high-pass crossover (internal on the amp or some caps on the speakers) set to around 70Hz. You'd be surprised what 50+ "real" watts on tap along with sending only frequencies the speaker is physically capable of producing can do...

www.knukonceptz.com If you e-mail Bill (the owner) and tell him you were referred by a member of contour.org he should give you a discount. Copper is copper is copper. There's no need to spend extra unless you're after aesthetics or that mad rush that audiophiles get by spending ridiculous...

Will MSP rims fit on my FD???

Thanks for the responses. Taking a look at the FD, the tires are definately fatter. Been under her cover the past few months, so I've forgotten what she looks like (just picked up the MSP a coupla weeks ago). Love to see the pics tho! Post 'em if you can. Looks like I'll just get a set of...

    Help! Need Tips! Hurry!

I came very close to doing this. But, I was very disappointed in the interior of the STi. The performance is stellar, but just think what you're looking at 90% of the time - the interior. It just didn't fit a 30K+ car. Now if it were around 25K, there would be one sitting in my driveway...

Will MSP rims fit on my FD???

Anyone know if my 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege rims would fit on my 1993 Mazda RX-7? I'd like to switch over to all-season rubber on the MSP and put the Racing Hart rims on the FD. Thanks, Colin
