We used to hear that all the time in the upgraded act clutches with organic discs. It is something in the clutch compound which would make the sound. We never had any longevity problems with them and the noise.

You can run any DOT tire you want, Hoosier and BFG are the most common in the states. In Canada the Toyo RR is a spec tire for B-Spec racing.
I run the BFGs for no particular reason, they seem to suit my driving style.
