    Boost controller

It really depends on how much boost you're talking. If its anywhere between stock and 10psi, you don't need 440cc injectors or a new fuel pump.. If you want to go higher, then you need to consider not only upgrading the exhaust and fuel delivery system, but forged internals as well. Sure you can...

    No compression

If its not the valves or the head gasket, it would have to be on the low end. I would say piston rings, but for all 4 to go out at the same time is unlikely. If those valves are opening at the wrong time, then proper compression can't be achieved. That being said, I'd take another look at the...

HOW TO FIT Protege non turbo radiator on the MSP (Mishimoto)

Thanks! But I must admit that your more simplistic approach is, in most ways, nominal to my more aggressive polished aluminum everything technique. After all, your car is faster than mine...

HOW TO FIT Protege non turbo radiator on the MSP (Mishimoto)

Yeah you're probably right. Mazda did a great job supplying the MSP with good quality parts. But if you're as obsessive as me about the appearance of your engine bay, I think its fair to say that the Mishimoto fan shroud definitely looks better...

HOW TO FIT Protege non turbo radiator on the MSP (Mishimoto)

Nice tutorial. For those not happy with the hacked up fan shroud look, Mishimoto makes a fan shroud that fits that radiator. Its another $175 give or take, but the fans work better than oem, and it gives you a lil extra room to play with. I bet you'll be replacing that radiator cap soon...

    My MSP project

My plan was to change the head and the exhaust manifold at the same time. I bought a head from a fellow MSP owner here in Austin a few months back, and it looked to be in good shape. Just before I started to do the install, I did the lighter fluid test on the valves. Both exhaust valves in...

How do I uninstall my WHOLE turbo system?

My wife has a P5, and I agree its a great car, but I cant say its "better" than my speed. Except that her rear windshield wiper works better than mine. ...but I agree, drive the P5 as it is. Its not nearly as fun without the turbo.

How do I uninstall my WHOLE turbo system?

If you own an MSP, and you like to drive fast, eventually you will need engine parts, or a whole motor. That being said, that P5 would be a great catalyst for said motor (among alot of other cross compatible parts). If you only paid $1000 for it, then you got more than your money's worth from...

    My MSP project

For those who favor the $1 fixes, the MSP is definitely not the car for them... Thanks! Ill definitely take it off your hands.

    My MSP project

I personally haven't had problems with my ac, but my wife has a 2002 P5, and its a lil touchy on 2 sometimes. But in Texas, you gotta have the ac on full if you don't want to melt, so anything less than full blast is rendered useless one way or the other. For the e brake bypass, I purchased one...

    My MSP project

After everything I did on this car, one problem I was never able to get rid of was the vacuum leak. I changed every gasket and every vacuum line under the hood, and still never got vacuum to read any more than 12Hg. What it ended up being was a leak in one of my valve seals. As Ive modified the...

    My MSP project

So I got 3 coats of clear coat on it for extra protection. The gunmetal matches my rims almost perfectly. I had a Mazdaspeed sticker laying around so I placed it on the diverter for a lil "zaz". Heres the results...

    My MSP project

So the new hood came in and I got it on with no problems (it was super light...about 20lbs). I needed to drive across town, so I had a chance to see how it ran with the new hood. The cutaways in the hood are directly over the exhaust mani and BOV. There are 2 more inlets closer to the sides of...

Im in North Austin as well. I see a yellow msp parked in a complex on the corner of Metric and Gracy Farms too.

Thanks for the response. That definitely gives me some ideas to divert more air in. After a bit more research, I decided to go with the 2nd evo style hood. In the meantime, Ill remove the molding and perhaps the insulation (removing insulation can result in damaging the paint on the hood...

    My MSP project

The effect of the new setup on performance was definitely noticeable. The response time was a bit slower, and it took a bit longer to spool than before. But once it did spool up, the increased pipe size really made a difference. Even while driving around casually, everything seemed to be a bit...

    My MSP project

After getting everything snug and secure with the charge piping and intercooler, I went to put the bumper back on. The intercooler was just a bit too big and I couldn't get the bumper to fit properly. I really wanted to avoid removing and/or cutting the grill if at all possible. I did have to...

    My MSP project

Thinking more about the turbo setup, I like the quick spool up response I get with the smic. As with any forced induction system, the shorter the charge piping, the quicker the response. But the stock smic pretty much sucks in any ambient temp greater than 80F. Theres a few upgrades out there...

    My MSP project

So now it was back to the motor. When I originally bought the car, it was missing the strut brace. I looked into getting the oem replacement, but it was more than $300. Also, I think the stock one is pretty ugly, so I began looking for an aftermarket one. I found a few websites that still had a...
