Just got my car aligned AGAIN for the third time (shrug) .The service guy said I must have hit something to throw my alignment off like this. (I haven't hit anything, but I do drive downtown 3 times a week for class and the roads are crappy) My front right tire is now freaking bald on the outside edge. Oh and I only have 7300 miles only my car (scratch). Then the service writer had the nerve to tell me that this was my only free 4-wheel alignment that I was going to get during my adjustment period of my warranty. (This was my third FREE alignment so I think the service guy is talking out his ass.)

Any body got any clue why my car can't keep an alignment? Does anybody else have these problems? Can our cars take rough downtown roads without messing up the alignment?

Thanks for your time

devilspawn was havin issues with his alingment, had wheel shake at highway speeds and he took it in several times.....its a warrenty issue and not a wear item so tell them to screw themselves and get the s*** fixed....the only thing i can thing of is a bolt of too is loose?....how do u adjust toe on our cars? i havent bothered to mess with it yet?

Ahhh thats not that bad. Mine was way worse. Of course I took all the struts out of the car and lowered it.

The guy told me that for every 1/8" that the toe in is off. Its like dragging the tire across the pavement for a mile every 10 miles you drive. I was eating up tires real fast until I got it aligned.

Actually it is kind of bad, but not as bad as mine was. I would bet that they did a lousy job before. I drive some pretty rough roads and my alignment has been holding pretty well.

I guess the next three months will be the test for the new alignment, b/c I don't go back to school until the end of August. If the tires don't show any more wear then they do now, then I guess its the just the downtown roads that are messing it up. Or maybe the dealership finally did a good alignment. (2thumbs) I still got to get new tires in July though for my inspection though :( . Oh well, thanks for the comments

If you hadn't had the alignment done three times already I would say that someone screwed up/or didn't perform the pdi alignment (MSP's needed toe corrections from the factory). Yes rough roads can throw your alignment off, however it's very rare to see just toe corrections needed.

1) Whats pdi alignment?

2) Somebody at work told me that the toe is adjusted with the tie rod ends, and that its nearly impossible to knock your toe out of whack by hitting a pothole or whatever. He also said that only way it got knocks out this much is that somebody didnt tighten a bolt or something. Is this true?

3) What are some of the symptoms of a bad toe alignment (Just excessive outside tire wear on the edges? My car had this problem!!) Or does the car want to pull a certain way or something?
