Help me Find a Location For my Subs

I am not much of a crazy bass guy, but i like a good amount of bass every once in awhile. I listen to more Rock then anything, like some turbonegro, and Korn that have great bass lines. So I have upgraded all my speakers, to Alpine type r speakers all the way around. New tweeters, and HU. And I just bought 2 audiobahn 8 in subwoofers. I bought these becuase i need space in the back.

So my big question is how and where i should mount them. At first i though it would be kinda cool to put them in the backseat floor area. (the part the slopes down by your feet) then i thought they would get ruined , and too much work, and the gas tank is there. So then I thought maybe underneath my front seats. But I dont know. I really dont know much about subwoofer location, and things of that nature. So help me out.

I thought maybe my lady friends would like it under the seats, but I think it would get annoying for me.

Thanks

put em in the car, and listen to them, and you will make your decision =), only make your decision if you have listened to a variety of systems though(alot of audiobahn people think its the s*** because they just haven't heard anything else)

well i had to alpine type r 12's and they were too much, and I have had audiobahn once before. I just thought i would try it out. So where do you think a good location fo them would be?

i think it would be cool if you integrated them in the dash! or you could put em in the wheel well, possibilities are endless really, even though you are trying to save space.

under the front seats = bad idea btw(who knows what would happen when you try to slide the seats back lol)

**** then, I guess next time I buy something I will check with you guys then. Well i guess all put them in my other car. I never drive it. Then what sub do you recommend for what I want?

Agreed you could very likely do much better, even if on a budget *cough* eD...
However, if you like the spiff chrome stuff and all, that's cool. They're really not all that horrid, just alot more hype than function. Thatsaid, as far as finding a place tomount them. the under-rear-seat idea would be cool, but you're right, gastank right there and it'd be tricky anyway. If you're willing to put in some work, and have a good bit of time, I highly recommend Fiberglassing. I just finished glassing myself a box, and it's pretty damn cool how little useable space I tookup and still managed to get a nicely-presented 1.25cuf box for a big 12.

for you, i would go with a jl audio sub, sounds like you are looking for something moderately loud/sounds good. I just installed a 12w6v2 with a RF amp(450 watts or something bridged) in my step bros mustang, box wasnt that big(think i ended up with around 1.2 cu.ft all said and done) and it sounded ****** awesome and was loud when i gave it power...the boxes requirements are pretty small also which is what you sound like you want. He listens to the same music you like btw, it sounded good with it.

Cool thanks, I have Fiberglassed a couple other things, and 1 box before. But if JL is what you say then all get JL, my friend told me i should get the W3 awhile ago, but i dont know that much about it.

By the way that looks like it will look pretty nice once your done.

i can't personally comment on a w3, but im sure it will sound good, ive only dealt with 12w6s as of yet, but they have all sounded great, not loud enough for my tastings but def had the sound quality...

notsure what kind of power you've got to push, but Elemental designs is just the bee's knees IMHO. If you want something fairly soon, then check over here: http://www.audiohole.com/storecatalog.asp?userid=2 Their K sries, inspite of the good price are AWESOME drivers. there are many members of this forum very happily running k's. PLUS they've got the smooth understated flat logoless nomex cone.. They've apparantly got some 10k's left, that'd be sweet...

Nowthen if you've got some time and don't mind waiting a bit, then here's the new version. http://www.edesignaudio.com/kv2.htm They had to get rid of the flat cone, not out of want, but simply because they got screwed by a supplier. Kind of sparked a BUNCH of engineering though so they're gonna be sweet as well, just not available for another couple months... Hard to explain exactly HOW sweet eD's are on here. I took a HUGE gamble when I ordered mine, and I've yet to be anything but blown away by it. Where do you live? perhaps someone can let you put an ear to theirs.

Apart from those, JL's are sweet. And I've also been fairly impressed with Eclipse for subs. It's really hard to explain how a subwoofer can sound good, but those 3 brands can. it's kind of the way in which they seamlessly blend with the rest of your speakers and don't just sound like a big driver thumping away in your trunk.

w6v2 maybe overkill if u dont want alot of bass.. awesome speaker tho.. ed012 is a good alternative.. for way less money.. pm moeed.. and a few others on here.. tehy have ed.. everyone seems to like it..
