Fuel Pressure gauge install??

Looking for some help with the fuel pressure gauge. I got boost/vac, oil press, & fuel press and the only one I'm stumped on is fuel pressure. Does anyone have links or pics of an install? Where is the better place to put the sensor - as close to the rail as possible, or right after the fuel pump?

I'm also planning to add oil temp and EGT later once the dual gauge instrument surround comes available - that will be 3 oil sensors attached. Should I run braided cable (to keep the ground) to mount the two pressure sensors and put the temp sensor at the Tee? Any thoughts on this one?

Thanks for your help.

First off, did you get mechanical or electrical gauges?

If mechanical on the pressure gauges, do not put them inside the passenger compartment.

Go read through the Flyin' Protege turbo install directions to get an idea of where to mount the oil pressure sensor, and where to mount the fuel pressure sensor.

Seems a bit like overkill... For My extra injector controller, I tapped a brass X fitting into the stock line from the firewall. It looks like a rubber hose but it isn't. It is a hard plastic tube inside a rubber hose. That will give you your pump presure, not your regulated pressure. I'm sorry and don't want to sound like a H8ter, but for something that you can't modify the parameters on, a fuel pressure indicator seems like just an extra needle sitting at a constant place every time you turn on the car??

Later..Brian P.S. Let us know how you make out.

The temp sesnor for the oil must be a flow path or else it will not me accurate. I don't know where the oil line for the turbo on the MSP is but it is likely where I put mine, on the back of the block towards the firewall.

I live really close, (Like 4 Hours) from you. If I'm in town I would like to have a look at what you have done. Later...Brian

Electrical pressure gauges, mech boost/vac. Thanks for the input so far. Brian, I chose the fuel pressure gauge because it can provide info there is a problem before it causes damage - same as EGT, Voltage, oil temp - once the car is warm, the gauges will sit mostly in one spot unless you have a problem. That's the reason I didn't bother with a A/F - from the stock sensor it's a great light show but doesn't tell you very much.

You are correct about the A/F. Unless you can modify the fuel delivery, it really is just a nice show. However, people who have increased the boost in the MSP should be mindfull of the A/F if the injectors are stock and the ECU has not been remapped. The EGT is a great idea, it's possibly the one true way to keep an eye on running lean. It's in my bag of tricks this summer. I am planning to run as much as 15 Psi (and hope the tranny will hold on a 1/4 mile)

Later...Brian
