Hi i was intersted in buying and installing four tweeters in my P5 because my subs nearly drown out all the sound in my car.. Does anyone have recommendations for clean, crisp tweeters that look OEM style and perhaps where i should install them? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

just buy a set of boston acoustics component speakers (either the 65 pro's or the rc-620s) of course the bostons will sound even better with an amp.

yeah i'd look at replacing the mid and tweet with a good componet set and amplyfying it as well.

I really like Kappa's, they provide great highs with a amp.

Here are mine right on the door

thats what i was talking about. it did it and it sounds great. ask the IL peeps

adding extra tweeters isn't the answer. It's kind of spendy, but Get a nice set of front speakers and amplify them. I really wouldn't worry about the rear, they really only serve to throw off your imaging. Ideally you should make a good quality cd that covers you favorite styles of music. And perhaps some other stuff that has alot of clarity that you might listen to as well. I really like using Dave Matthews Crash because there's alot of seperation and though it gets busy, it's all very clean and crisp if heared on good speakers. Then go and listen to a many speakers as you can. I'd look at JL, Boston, Eclipse, MBQuart, CDT, etc. Component 6.5's will fit, and actually Boston inclides 5x7 adapter plates with their Pro's this year (guess what I'm getting) WIth components, Expect to spend at least $200 for speakers, and if you're serious, I'd shoot for around $400 or so. but listen and see what you think. More money is not necessarily better. I personally was sold on some $800 focals until I heared the Boston pro's which are $450. If you want to stay simple and keep to coaxiles, you're not going to be making a huge sacrifice, Actually ever since I upped the juice on my amp, my Kappa's have been sounding pretty damn good again. As for amps, Alpine, eclipse and JL make some nice clean amps. Eclipse especially has some lower priced stuff that sounds incredible. Look to send atleast 50w per channel. and if you don't mind spending some money to sound good, you could push upwards of 150w (more power=good)

This should help. Take a look tat this:
http://www.tnt-audio.com/topics/frequency_e.html

You'll notice that the majority of music is between 70 hz and 3500 hz.
Tweeters play above that range and subs play below that range. So by having subs you have spent the most money to reproduce 5% of the music you listen to.

Conclusion, put money into the mids of the system. The best way is to get some good full range speakers and power them off a good, powerful amp. Otherwise your car will just go:
Boom.Boom.tss.tss.tss.Boom.Boom.tss.tss.tss.Boom.Boom.tss.tss.tss.

Then they need to be louder. :D

Seriously, though...even with people in my car, the system sounds fine. The front sound stage with proper power is the way to go...IMHO.

yeah, i pretty much agree with the audio gurus up in here. focus on your front stage. if you want some rear fill, just get some upgraded speakers, but don't go all out on the rear. here's a pic of my JL XR650CSi tweeter in my doors .... powered by Alpine MRV-T420 amp.

I've got my JL VR075-CT's installed in the stock tweeter location, and, without the music playing you'd never guess that they weren't stock.

Thats a good tweeter to add if you just want a bit more "life" to the music.

If the goal is to keep par with some subs then more power and drivers that can handle it is the main focus. You do bring up a great point that the factory speakers can perform well if they get protected from low frequencies with a high pass crossover and have moderate, clean power driving them.

Bass Addict, did u have to modify anything on the stock location to place those tweeter in there? I am planning on changing the front door speakers and possibly the tweeters also while I am at it and I didn't know if other tweeters will fit in the stock location perfectly or not. Any recommandation on speakers?

Jspec, I didn't have to change a thing. Just open the door and the sailpane pops off and the stock tweeter can be removed with a flathead screwdriver. Mine fit in there pretty good so I snapped it back into the door. They sound decent, just can't wait to get my Focals and my Eclipse deck put in, then it will slowly come to life.

Mine are in the exact same place. Kind of a b**** to install there though. I had to cut some metal out from behind to get them to mount nice and flush, but it was definately worth it.
