nice... placed in the spot the matrix has them (bleh) since you're in So Cal i don't think i'd roll around with both sets of fogs on... get a ticket

Yeah, I mainly wanted them for the style of the "Angel Eyes". The main part of the lights are on a switch so I can turn them on when I want the extra light. Probably will use them more for when I'm trying to see on a dark road with or without my brights.

how was installation and wiring like? was it simple enough that an idiot can do it ? i have a set lying at home right now but i'd like to replace my stock fogs with them instead.... althought it would be easier to do it your way

Same here!! I'd like to find a set too. Ractive sells them but they only had 6.5" fogs and they're too big to fit in the stock fog light mounting areas.

Installation and wiring wasn't bad at all. The instructions that came with it make it pretty much idiot proof. I did some mods to the way it is normally wired up and I would suggest staying away from that unless you understand electrical/electronics or know someone that can help you. The standard set up is pretty simple though. The main problem I ran into was mounting. I mounted the brackets to the metal part of the bumper behind the lower grille and I couldn't get a drill in there. I did manage to barely get a right angle drill in there to drill the holes by cutting a drill bit down to a shorty. Everything else went fairly smooth...just took some time routing the wires and deciding how I needed to hook everything up to work how I wanted it to.

I got them at Pep Boys. They're made by Hella. The total install time was about 5 hours, but most of that time was consumed trying to figure out a way to drill the metal part of the bumper and running to the store to rent a right angle drill.

where did you get these fogs i'd like to get me a set
they look nice about how long was the install

These ones are about an inch or so smaller than the stock fogs. Check out Pep Boys or the Hella website.

Thanks ceej...the only thing that is bothering me right now is that the rings light up a slightly blue white. So with my headlights and OEM fogs lit, they put out a nice clear white light, then my parkings are amber and now these have the bluish ring so it seems like I have too many colors going. I'm currently looking to see what I can find to replace the parking that will give me that slightly bluish white light to match the rings on the fogs. The rings on the fogs light up with LED's and all "white" LED's light up slightly blue, so if I can find an LED style light for the parking it should match exactly.

Anyone have suggestions on where I should look? I've already trined the APC titanium super whites, last night, and they don't quite match the headlights or the fog rings.

I think they look cool.

would you know how to switch the wiring for the angel eyes so that both the ring and the inner light will come on at the same time? like the bmw lights?

also did you have to take the bumper off to install that?

They look nice, but what are cops in So Cal going to think of white turn signals and hazards? I know cops here in lame-o Utah hated them, so i don't think cali cops are going to like them much either...

Cool, i have a set of those not installed. When i saw that they were an inch small i was like, s*** cant use them cause the gap will look funny. I might have to copy your style :).
I can also sell them to somebody too. PM me with reasonable offers.

EDIT: drew where is your switch?

I think you can only have one or the other with the factory wiring, but with a relay the sky is the limit.

Yeah, just wire them up in parallel if you want the rings and the lights to come on at the same time with a single switch. The ones I got have two wires for the rings and two wires for the lights (hot and ground for each). Just connect the grounds and hots to each other and wire them up that way. Both the rings and lights will come on when you flip the switch.

The BMW lights are configured to turn on the rings when you are in low beam and both in hi beam. That's kinda how mine are wired up. The rings come on with the parking lights and the center part of the light is active if my headlights are on AND I flip the switch. I was trying to wire them up to the hi-beams, but our hi-beams go to ground instead of going to 12V when you flip the lever to the hi beam position.

No, I didn't have to take the bumper off to install them the way I did. I'm not sure about if you wanted to mount them in the OEM fog light position.

Well, as far as the rings, they fall under accent lighting so there isn't any law against it, as long as it isn't flashing or bright red. As far as the parking/turn signals are concerned, cali vehicle code allows white or amber lights in the front. So if a cop pulls me over for it, I'll quote him the vehicle code.

I mounted the switch on one of the dummy panel inserts where our factory fog light switch is located. I use an illuminated rocker so I won't ever have that second set of fogs on and forget they are on....like is a cop is approaching ;-)

Here's some new pics. I replaced the amber parking/turn lights with some super whites that match the fog rings better. I tried several bulbs and this was the closest I could get....grrrrr! I think it looks better, though....what do you all think?

could you give some more detail instructions as to which metal part you mounted it to? maybe a picture? that would really help....
cause the only metal part I see is near the top of the airdam, and it looks like it is structural..... so i'm not sure how good it would be to drill into thta thing...
