how bad is your vibration?

:
2003 MSP
Im running 2 audiobahn flame Q 12 DVCS in a sealed box at apporx 600 watts RMS. My rear vibration is so terrrible i dont want to listen to my stereo. what are the best places to dampen and what are your experiences? any other ideas?

I took off the covers that conceal the child seat hooks and the vibration noise went down considerably

My car rattles also. I put deadener on the trunk lid and on the rear deck below the back window. took out the rear speakers. Now my bumper rattles. and the plastic piece on the rear deck rattles some still. you basically just have to add weather stripping. if you still hear rattles then you have to go back and add more weather stripping.

if you search this you will find alot of info. I am not sure if the search is fixed yet but it should be. there are alot of ppl with this prob.

I have 600 watts on my Kappas and my trunk rattles like a beast when it's turned up, so i understand ur problem.
first thing go to a hardware store and buy some weatherstripping, it's cheap, and they make some kind now that is labeled as marine & automotive that is recommended for stopping vibrations. I got some of that and put a bit on the back of my license plate to cushion it, and that helped a ton, there are still some things rattling a little under the upholstered paneling in my trunk, but i'm gonna take that stuff out and find the rattles and weatherstrip them.

weatherstripping is a cheap/fast solution, but if you still have bad rattling, you will probably need sound dampener (dynamat style)

Notsure what car you've got, but if you've got a P5, do your spoiler, mine was NASTY bad, even worse than I'd thought from inside. I still get rattling from that stupid plastic lisence plate holder but I'll soon delve into that. Gotta edead my hatch as well. My 1100w ELemental makes the whole back of my car visibly vibrate. In fact if it's bumping good my rear-wiper skips all over the place... Butyes, if P5, DEFINATLEY do your spoiler. I think it shoudl be in the how-to section or something. It's actually fairly simple, and the problems become apparant. 2 large pieces of plastic that prettymuch just sorta touch eachother and glass. I used a good bit of weather stripping and my personal favorite, Bicycle handlebar tape... Ahh, the neverending quest for a rattle-free car.

find out exactly what is rattling. the rear deck is the worst rattle i have come across for inside the car. that can be fixed in most cases with weather stripping. put some thin weather stripping where the plastic underside meets the metal. also put some along the back edge where the plasctic cover touches the window. what else is rattling?

the entire rear half of my car rattles. not to mention all 4 doors flexing.

this causes some serious rattles:

MY car is a MSP, I took out the rear deack and shoved as much foam rubber in there as possible and on the holes in the trunklid i squeezed some in there. It helped a little. not sure what u mean by weather stripping. I just ordered a 100 square foot roll of fat mat off ebay for 79 bucks! once it warms up im gona take the whole trunk apart and do everything.

on an MSP, what is the trick to get the pegs out that hold the plastic cover over the rear deck? i was afraid to straight up yank them due to the fact they may never go back in :P

thanks in advance

the rear deck cover's plugs go back in. You have to get a knife or small screwdriver under the inner circle and pop it out...then you just pull it out and you're all set.

i removed the entire rear deck. The car looks like s*** without it, but the bass sounded too much like ass with it in there, so I left it out. I will do something to it so that I can replace it with fewer rattles, but until then, it is out of the car

did you try just taking off the covers over the child seat hooks?

also I was getting this metallic rattle a couple days ago and I realized the vibration had partially unscrewed one of the bolts that secure the child seat hooks
