My unexpected new daily driver!

Some of you may know that I'm dumping a 2JZ GTE into my Lexus SC300. I was looking to purchase the least expensive car I could find. I ended up buying an 04 Chevy Caviler coupe 5 speed with the Ecotec engine. Holly crap, I think this is the best car you can Bay new for $9600.00 The thing is smooth and has tones of torque. I'm impressed, it feels like my Mazdaspeed for $10000 less. Not to knock the Speed which is a great car, but for the price this Cavi is very strong!

I can't believe it, I said I would never own a Cavalier but the engine & 5 speed is very imperssive!

man...i can't believe you got one of those...but ahh well as long as i don't have to see it :) i'm all good haha

cavaliers sting my eyes(freak)

Echotec= one of the storgest NEW motors to take forced induction. :D

Trust me, I did my homework on this engine, and GM converted one over to meth, and dumped mad NOS into it. Guess what, It blew at 420 HP. Then they went back, and started again, replaceing the weak stuff, and got 600 whp. This is how they built thier DRAG Cavi, and Sunfire.

This engine, if tuned right will put 300+ to the ground boosted. :D

I hate the way the new cavs look and i test drove an 01 and hated it. :(
but that's just me.

The 01 has the old OHC 2.2L cow engine, I mean truck engine.
The Ecotec is much better. I have always found chevy's lines to be attractive.

Well, normally with chevy I would b**** about their resale value, but ours is pretty killed at this point too- still think they are ugly though.

yeah i have an 02 cavy not the grandma version the sportier one with the rims n spoiler its not to harsh on the eyes but UGH im so glad i got the 02! the 03+ are sooo UGLY IMHO

Getrag five-speed manual transmission which is also built for BMW is great and smooth shifting. If they hang in the BMW's, I should have no problems with it.

For $9600 bucks new, it sould be a good beater. I've had the thing for 10 days and already have over 900 miles on it.

American car companies are starting to get the hint about compacts..

i agree, although domestic companies could still use a few lessons in the area of exterior design. the neons, cavaliers, saturn redline, and focus arent the prettiest cars on the road.

just don't keep that cavy too long there interiors tend to fall apart after 4 years...my best frend has a 97 Z22 and has to put 2 grand into it every 2 months for repairs

I just totally spec'd a silver sport 1SA:

w/ 5 spd manual tranny, onstar, MP3 player w/ rear woofers :D, Side Impact Air Bags, Machined 16's, and spoiler.

Guess what the total was:
$19.685 + tax, tags, freight

So how did you get yours for $6900?

Good buy by the way Turbo3Wagon.

Get some sway bars and GM has come out w/ a eaton roots supercharger system for the Cavi which gives it 200 hp at the crank. Not bad for a little engine that could! :DMy Spec'd Cavi
