No longer a virgin...

Hi everyone. Well, I never expected it to happen this way. I always dread my first dent/ scratch on a pristine new car, but this was unexpected!
I was on the freeway in the #1 lane (left) when I signalled, looked over my shoulder then started moving to the right- when CRUNCH! I quickly went back into the left lane... a second later a motorcycle Ca. Highway patrol officer pulled up next to me. Apparently he was speeding between lanes and could not slow down and ran into my passenger side. He was fortunate he did not go down!
Which brings me now to look for a rear bumper cover and a passenger tail lamp assembly. I am tangled in insurance paper work now and want to fix my car. Does anyone out there know of source for parts? I am in the Los Angeles area. I would feel worse about my car, but at the time, I was on my way for a bike ride and my mountain bike was on the back. he taco-d my wheel and bent the frame. Thanks everyone...be careful out there.

I'm sure if he could find any reason to give me a citation he would have.
On the side of the freeway he seemed to be experiencing many feelings, one must have been being glad he was not part of the pavement. (we were doing about 60 MPH)

Well, if you were not in the wrong, then he was and the CHP or whoever should be paying for your repairs. A good source for parts when somebody else is paying the bill would be the dealership, BRAND NEW parts on a new car and settle for nothing less! Just because he was a cop, there is no reason that he should get away with thewrong doing. GOOD LUCK!

i heard if you get in a accident with a cop and it is his fault your insurance has to pay to get your car fixed,and you have to pay your deductible. this may only be in ohio im not sure.but i hope im wrong cuz i feel for ya. good luck man:bs:

Hmmm, I highly doubt it, but I can ask a good friend of mine. He is a cop here in Ohio. I really don't see why it would be any different if a cop was at fault, he is still responsible for his actions while behind the wheel...or the handlebars for that matter, lol. I will probably talk to him soon and I'll try and remember to ask him.
