So I was perusing the roof rack thread, and it seems some people were able to get their roof racks for like 199 bucks. Now I can't find a price lower than 300.
If you are deadset on OEM check out http://www.onlinemazdaparts.com If you are open to aftermarket, check out http://www.rackattack.com That is where I purchased my Thule kit...decent prices and sometimes they offer free shipping.
Sorry, the http://www.onlinemazdaparts.com site. I had looked for rails there before. And again, I can't figure out where to find them. Search for roof rails give nothing. I looked at every hit for 'rails' and nothing. I browsed but couldn't find. (braindead
And actually, I didn't quickly find it on rack attack, either.
Guessing you were searching under the OEM Automotive parts area? Found these using the Mazda accessory link on the right of the page. Used a 2012 CX-9 for the links above.
**edit
Just searched this on rack attack using the Thule fit guide for a 2012 CX-9 with a normal roof (no rails needed and should mount right to the roof??). Does the CX-9 have the four little plastic pieces in the channels on the roof? If so, you can slide those back with a screwdriver and install the podium fit kit to the roof (similar to my Mazda3). And you can save a little cash if you opt for the square bars vs the aeroblade.
What a ridiculous price. These are really cheap parts for that kind of money.
I own them, for specific reasons, but most folks might be happier with a direct mounted system from Thule or Yakima. More custom looking and more reliable.
My 2012 already had the factory rails on it, so I'm looking for a crossbar solution that's beefier than the 100lb Mazda bars. Holo is your 460R solution using the roof rail mount points or do they clamp on the factory rails? What's the load rating you're getting? I'm thinking of heading down to the Rack Attack brick & mortar store to talk to the sales guys in person and get their recommendation.
Hey Buff. I have the 450Rs and aeroblades. Technically rated at 165lb load, (but on 100lb OEM bars) so these are not as sturdy/stable as a direct attach system. I would have gone with the footpack but the placement/balance would have been wrong for my 16ft sailboat. Now that's a load.
The 450R's should work for you as long as the spacing works out. (Beware of low roof parking garages!)
