I'm not an expert in cars, could someone explain the function of this to me, and where can I buy a replacement for this

They are normally mostly found in NA Mazda intake manifolds.

Changing the length of the intake can change where the torque curve sits.

Mazda has basically tried to make a variable length intake by making a set of flaps that change the path inside the manifold.

They engage and alter the length when it suits the need as decided by the program in the ECU.

As Brian said Vic's will activate around 5000 rpms Vtcs is to help startup emissions you should have a cel for the Vtcs. Neither is important for the car though

thanks guys, I do have a CEL :/ what options do I have to replace this, they're both broken behind the plastic plug, I've already looked onlinemazdaparts, no luck

Is it the Green plug or the White one?

I will mail you one and you can install it if you like..

both are broken, I was looking at it, and they seem to come from underneath, I could provide a better pic tomorrow. thanks Brian <3
