Just a quick over view on this. I purchased an Ebay coldair intake it mounted ok but the big issue i had (and it seems like a few other people had as well) was the placement of the purge solenoid that use to fit perfect on the old intake. With the Ebay intakes and i think Injen intakes there is no place for the piece.

At first i mounted it near the firewall but got a TICK sound inside the cars cabin. Then i moved it and zip tied it to the cross bar, still the same problem the loud TICKING sound. So over the weekend i did the following.

Purchased

1 L bend for door frames
1 3" hose clamp
1 1/2 hose clamp
2 rubber disks.

I know the sizes above are a little larger than you need but its what i had laying around.

Ill dio my best to describe what i did by the pictures will help more than anything.

Step 1 I took the 3" hose clamp wrapped it around the back of the intake and placed one of the small rubber disks with the L bend on top of the rubber disk then clamped it down.

Step 2 - Take the purge solenoid and the other rubber disk and mount it to the L bend with the rubber dish between the L bend and solenoid. Tighten down. DONE

Hope thsi helps a few people that were looking for a solution to this for the Ebay intakes or other intakes that DO NOT have a place to mount it.

I just ziptied mine to the brake lines and let it dangle when I had an intake without the mounting tab. No issues with any noise.

I tried that as well but I did not like the thought of 2 zip ties locking it down. I guess i was aiming to help a few people that were looking for a solution. I spent 4 hours looking all over for a fix and could not nail one down that i liked.

So your ticking noise had to do with the orientation of the purge valve? I assume your noise is gone now?

correct the noise is gone. the ticking from coming from the purge tapping against the metal and that created the loud ticking. If you feel the purge you feel the pumping acting it creates

I used a bracket to secure it to one of the bolts holding the throttle body in place. It was relatively easy to do and solved the ticking noise I had as well.
