Stock Radio Antenna Connector Type?

The wife snapped off the OEM antenna leaving a chunk of the connector stuck in the antenna base, I could not for the life of me get it out. I stupidly bought this cheapo antenna base before I realized that it doesn't have the same connection as the OEM one, it looks like it's coax:

Does anyone know the technical name for the antenna connection type, the connection on the end of the cable that goes from the antenna to the radio? I attached a pic of the new antenna base connector (the white one) and the cable that goes to the radio. That antenna coax cable has a teeny tiny hole that the radio antenna cable won't fit into. If I could find the name of this connection I could at least try to find an adapter before I return the ebay antenna base.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

The eBay link is bad ("This listing () has been removed, or this item is not available")

I don't know what the connection is called, but just wanted to say that you can buy an OEM base for $42.99 from here:

And be sure to adjust your garage door so that it raises higher, to avoid further antenna mishaps. If it is still close and you cannot adjust your door more, consider either going with a "shark fin" style antenna, or a shorter antenna - the shortened antenna costs about $13 after shipping from here: www.stubbyantenna.com

Thanks, she has a bad habit of backing out of the garage before the door is all the way up.

I am starting to think the connector on that ebay antenna base is a BNC connection, I found a BNC --> Motorola adapter at RadioShack that I will try tonight.

Once you get it hooked back up, consider the stubby antenna for everyday driving. The height of the shortest stubby antenna is less than the maximum roof height (or it's very close), remember that the roof is arched. You could then put the normal antenna back on for trips where you might want better radio reception.

Or the shark fin style antenna - you can see pictures here:

though their price seems really high.

One thing you might try with your wife is to let her know the importance of letting the engine run for at least 15 or 20 or seconds before taking off (to prolong engine life / get the engine oil moving) then explain that she can gauge 20 seconds as being the amount of time it takes for the garage door to fully go up, plus three or four more seconds.

is the reception that much worse for these other antennae's? i'd like to switch mine but not if it will result in crappy reception.

Ditto the previous post.

Had the 'antenna wouldn't back out of the garage door' problem the day I brought the car home. Tried a stiff piece of slick plastic where the antenna was hitting the garage door to guide it out smoothly but it didn't work so got the shorter Dodge Journey antenna for ~$6.00, problem solved.
