Oil Feed Line Solution - Need help ASAP!

01 MP3 Turbo
I removed the turbo assembly a couple weeks ago in order to replace what I thought what a cracked manifold, but wasn't, and in doing so I somehow screwed up the oil feed line. It came loose right off the restrictor and is slowly leaking, and I'm about to drive 2000 to Oregon on Tuesday so I gotta fix this over the weekend.

The problem is that I can't tighten or loosen the elbow off the restrictor due to the turbo housings being in the way, so I wanted to see how you guys had your feed lines setup. I'll probably have to break off the elbow in order to unscrew it and put on a new one, but I just don't like the setup in general.

In order to take off the line I have to undo it at the back of the block every time, which is super cramped and a pain in the ass, so I wanted to do this differently with some sort of quick-disconnect fitting if possible.

id say go to the nearest place that does hydraulic hoses and take the whole peice including the broken fitting and see if they can make one

That's the plan, but I wanna see if someone found a clever way to do this that allows for easier disconnecting and reconnecting of the line without undoing it at the back of the block.

Well this is just starting to get on my nerves now. I went and got a new elbow fitting and replaced it, but it's still leaking. There is a small amount of oil that accumulates at the bottom of the restrictor and smoke coming off the top and back side of the turbo.

There is nowhere else the leak could be coming from right? Just the feed or the return lines as far as I can tell, and the return line is bone dry..

Any advice on how to stop the leak? It appears to be leaking at the restrictor. Should I take it out and put some thread sealant or teflon tape on the restrictor? I need this fixed soon..

You probably cross threaded it. It's very easy to do so on that piece. Just go to your performance shop and get all new AN fittings and run a new line from the back to the turbo and be done with it.

The line appears to be fine though, and I did replace the fitting just to cover the possibility of it being bad. The leak somehow sprung up on the restrictor, but since they're not very easy to find (locally at least) Im sort of hesitant about taking it out for inspection :(

What are the specs of the restrictor anyway? I might go out looking for a replacement one later. My line is -4AN but I don't know what the thread in the turbo is. Also, what size restrictor?

EDIT: I think I found the specs. 1/4"NPT thread to -4AN, 0.040" restrictor hole size. Can someone confirm?

Hey Oggie. Not to hijack your thread, but I have a quick question that somewhat relates to your topic. I'm in the process of installing the ThunderV2 and while re-attaching the oil feed line to the turbo, I saw what looked like a spot for an o-ring on the turbo side of the oil feed fitting. Is there supposed to be an o-ring where the oil feed line goes into the turbo?
By the way, the V2 looks awesome! Thanks again!!!

No o-ring on the feed, but there is one on the return line. Glad you like the manifold, I can't wait for my Steedspeed to arrive.. but I first have to figure out this pesky oil leak before anything else.

I hear ya. Had a few broken bolts here and there. Had to buy a couple taps and whatnot. She looks pretty sweet though. You'll have to show us all the Steed when you get it on. As for the oil leak I honestly don't know what to tell ya. I'm mechanically inclined to a point, just not that point.

Did you have any issues with the return line bolting back up to the case when you had the Thunder on? It doesn't seem to want to line up.

I never installed the Thunder so I cant say for sure, but I havent heard of anyone else having any install problems with that manifold so it should all bolt right up.
