2005 Mazda Protege5
Well im new here, I just picked up my new Protege 5 with 57xxx miles on it. I paid $8000 for it with the aftermarket wheels, the stocker wheels, and a one year power train warranty. I was looking for a new car for quite a while specifically a sporty wagon. My first choice was a Subaru WRX wagon but since they were insanely over priced i stumbled upon this car. Having never driven one I talked to the dealership and worked out a deal and picked it up last Friday. I'm stoked, this car is a lot of fun to drive in the twisties, even though it does lack some power.

And a mod question.. Im looking for an exhaust and i looked through the exhaust thread, which axle back or cat back gives a good deep throaty sound, something close to the boxer rumble of a subie?

Thanks Guys!

corksport for sure, ive never heard a JIC but im sure it sounds pretty dam good too

any NA protege without headers and a full catless exhaust is going to sound good, no matter what lol
once you throw headers on with a catless exhaust then it starts to sound like a civic

Nice. I just bought one a month ago. Same color, same mileage, almost the same price. And that was after I spent a few months looking for a WRX wagon! ha!

Congrats!

Welcome to the forum, bro! I must say that that's one a beautiful ride, specially with those wheels (Racing Harts?)! Anyway, as everyone says, Corksport is probably your best bet if you want that boxer sound. Racing Beat comes close, but I don't think they're longer in production.

Thanks guys, ill take a look at those two and definitly the one on ebay.

The wheels are actually momo racing wheels. I do like them but im not sure if i can lower the car much at all with them. Ill have to check the fitment thread.
