Hello all. New to this group. I am the proud owner of a 2006 mazdaspeed6. I have to do anything to it yet except throw in a K&N filter and swap out the cheap oil with some Mobil1. looking to add some Iridium plugs soon and then wait just a little bit to save up some money and get a CAI installed.

Looking forward to see what I can learn here and meeting some othe owners.

Welcome to the site. I highly encourage you to also swap out the turbo inlet pipe when you do your intake.

/\ /\ Ah, crap, I wanted to get in a post before "needs a drop!" Not everyone lives in sunny California, m4tic! ;) (btw, what wheels are those? They look awesome.)

Welcome to the site, bprosperi. I'd also say that if you're replacing the intake, you might as well do the TIP while you're at it. I got the Speedie6 TIP, which I love, but PG has a pretty great package price on the SRI and TIP, which I would take over a CAI any day.

m4tic: I would like to but living in wonderful Ohio that is a bad idea come winter time. I could loose my front end in a pot hole.

OJ Bartley: Why the SRI and TIP over the CAI? My chances of doing either are still a ways off (have to do regulare maintence to the wife's car first :( ). I have been out to PG and they do have good prices. Looking to update the plugs here soon and they have the best price by a long shot.

(ohsnap!) Another warm welcome thread! (2thumbs)

That's one slick MS6...Congrats!

Be sure to keep us updated, post lots of (pics) and enjoy the forums! :D

Why the SRI and TIP over the CAI?

I kind of think of it the other way around... why bother going with a full CAI when the SRI shows almost as much of an increase, and you'll have a lot smaller chance of sucking up some water and hydrolocking. I just think the SRI is the safer option, especially in a location where you get water and slush on the roads, and is still way better than the stock airbox. Replacing the TIP also helps to free up the breathing, and after swapping mine I would hate to see anyone leave theirs in when doing any kind of intake upgrade. As far as I've seen, the PG combo is tough to beat.

That makes good sense. I wondered about that same scenario myself. I will check out PG for the price. Getting plugs from there soon.

yeah, if you're ordering plugs, and you're planning on the intake soon too, you might as well do it together and save a little on shipping.
