"Never hold the steering wheel to the extreme left or right for more than five seconds with the engine running. This could damage the power steering."

"The paint chipping zone varies with the speed of the vehicle. For example, when traveling at 90 km/h (56 m.p.h.) the paint chipping zone is 50 m (164 ft.)"

Have you read your owner's manual lately? It has tons of useful information tucked in between the obvious stuff. I thought I would start a thread where we could post some of the information it contains that isn't so obvious. Maybe someone could even scan the page on recommended oil viscosity?

I've read that steering quote in my manual. Sorta makes sense as it stresses the pressure of the power steering fluid.

But what are paint chipping zones?

No need to scan ;) ... pdf's of the original owner's manuals are freely available from www.mazda.ca. All the way back to 2002 - I was quite happy to see this.

Not sure if this is already on the forums... for people that need a pdf of the owner's manual:

1. Point to "Parts & Service Tab" (on www.mazda.ca)
2. From that menu, point to "Owner Info"
3. Click "Owner's Manuals"
4. Scroll down and get your pdf (cheers)
*AFAIK the owner's manual applies to both Canada and US

If you really want, you can even get info on the older models back to 2003, with the original spec's. Point to "Vehicles" tab, then "Archives" tab, and choose the year.

Maybe this could be sticky'd somewhere (if it isn't already).

Then, for those who are new owners - and don't have a hard copy - will have a pdf for reference. This applies to all Mazda makes/models dating back to 2002.
