Sorry to digress (regress?) here a little - I finally got around to putting in joe's mbc this weekend and I hit a bit of a snag that I need some help with. As it had for others, the stock hose split and cracked when I took it off the "t" and I've had ZERO luck getting it to stretch enough to fit on the mbc w/out further cracking/splitting. You guys who had this issue, how did you compensate??

I would get an EVO over the mustang. The EVO just seems so much more special, and it has new looks. I think you would have more fun in the EVO than the Mustang.

My dad has an 01 GT and it is very nice, but I would rather have an EVO myself.

After seeing pics of your Mustang, I definately think you should get the EVO!

Eeewww... If I had to chose from any of those, it would be the top- I am not into rice or decals.. I am not big on the whole "sport compact" image. I like clean looking and fast :).

Oh my God Joe, here's what you should do:.

1. Do the "buy back" thing on your mustang. Doing something like that is almost unheard of.
2. Take that money and for about the same price (24k) you can get a 2003 Mach 1 Mustang!!!! The seats in the Mach 1 are probably the best seats I've ever sat in -- mega lateral support. Not to mention she'll have a good 50HP over your GT. And the Mach 1s going for 24k right now is absolutely incredible in my opinion!! I've been this clost to trading in my MSP for a black Mach 1 here the dealer has had for a long time. It stickers for 29.6k and he's asking for invoice minus the $3000 Ford rebate -- which puts it at 24.1k. Incredible deal considering my brother paid 22k for his lowly GT last year.

That was one of my considerations too, but I was considering staying away from Fords just so I didn't have to deal with the Ford dealer in this chain (they have Ford, Chevy, Lincon, Mercury, Mitsubishi and a couple others.).. The actual company has taken good care of me, but their ford store has been horrible to deal with and I would rather not have another car that I know came from them. I might have to look closer at it though, I never looked at the interior of the Mach 1. I know the seats in the GT are horrible with no lateral support and the headrests are almost straight up and down- it feels like I am going to break my neck if I try to lean back against the rest!!!

As tempting as the Evo is, it is still not going to be the "cruiser" that the GT is when it comes to the car thing- remember- I am a domestic guy with a lot of older professional domestic friends. The only Imports in the group are owned by their wives and even they rag on them and say "they are good commuter cars" :).. Not that what they drive will have an impact on what I buy, but I do like cruising around with the top down on a nice Friday night :).

Yeah, I know what you mean about the dealers Joe. No suggestions there.....

But the Mach 1 interior is a definite improvement on the GT. The seats are the biggest thing --- they're custom seats with incredible side bolsters, for-and-aft adjustable headrests (super nice) and just a nice feel to them. They're even much better than the seats in the cobra. The gauge cluster is the same size as the GT but just looks better for whatever reason. Aluminum pedals, aluminum dead pedal, and the clutch on it seems ultra stiff. Most of the Mach 1s I've heard about are running in the mid 13s bone stock. As bad as the dealers are, it's still awefully hard to turn it down for only 24k. Just the front seats alone cost almost 2k if you buy them seperately. The only reason I haven't bought that 1 locally yet is because I'm just so used to driving small cars that I'm worried how a "big" car is going to feel. I just can't decide.

Whatever you end up getting, let us know how it compares to your GT.

Everyone and their brother owns a Mustang. I'm still not impressed with the FORD product. 2005 may start the turn around with the new mustang.

Yeah, well now they are ******* with me again saying "we have to talk to the body shop first becuase we don't know what you could have done to the car in the last couple of months".. ******* dealers.. I am thinking about calling the attorney general- there is no way I am going to let them paint the quarter panel on my brand new ******* car for a 4th time in 3 months!!!
Joe

Why is it being painted so many times? ... that sucks.

Man that blue EVO is really sweet, kinda like the MSP on steriods. :D

I just read that whole thing, and holy holy HOLY crap! I can not believe the run around you got. You should definetly get another car, do what ever you have to do to get out of it....and IMO I feel as though an EVO would have been a better pick, I say again in my personal opinion. I feel the Mitsu product to be of higher quality all around. The mustang has it's place but.....

seriously good luck with that whole situation.

Did they ever call back about exchanging it?

I know, the Evo was my first consideration, but they offered me even less for the MSP than Ford :(.. As for calling me back- I am supposed to meet with them tomorrow and see what happens.. The original guy said that the Evo "should not be a problem", but now they are saying that they would want my car and $4000 for the Evo. I flipped because he is treating me like I am trading my car in and not making them take it back.. I'll see what line of BS he has tomorrow.. I already contacted the Attorney Genrals office and Ford executive offices about the matter and they all had pretty much the same response you did :)..
Joe

Well I'm interested in what happens in this situation. I'm sure if you get the EVO before 3 weeks are up you'll have the thing over 300hp :D

They won't stop trying to **** me- that's what happened!! They originally were going to get me into an Evo at "only" a $4000 loss on my mustang (after saying even swap originally), then when they were putting the loan through, it was suddenly almost a $900o diffence!!! Then we spoke of just a monetary settlement for the problems with the car and they said $1000 (which is too low for the hassles, but I said I'd consider it) so I called him back today to say fine, lets get it over with and he said "well, I spoke with my body guy and it is only going to be $660 to paint it, so that is all I'll give you.. WTF???? It is not about the paint at this point, it is about the aggrivation, the 1000+ miles put on my car during all this and the fact that my "NEW" car was no better than a used car when I bought it. I may just continue through the attorney general after all...

All I can think of is shudda, shudda, shudda. But there is no need for that cause it's too late now. Man this pisses me off. A bunch of us here on the forum should call that dealership AND send letters to ford. Let these people know we all know they are a bunch of shisters and will not buy ford's ever again and not do business with Healey Ford.

When I talk to ford tomorrow, I am going to mention my website and let them know how many people are aware of my problems :).
