STRI DSD boost gauge installed, highly recommend!(w/pics)

I'm sick of people hating on prosports. They are an excellent value, maybe not top of the line, but cmon!

If your gauge is broken, they have excellent customer service and will fix it right away. Mine has not had issues. I would reccomend them for sure. Save the money, get a slightly less "shiny" gauge, and put the money you save into something more useful.

They are the same as many other gauges that come from China...I think I've seen them branded as "glo-gauges" as well. I don't recall the exact name, but it was the same as those in my mx6. People hate on them because they are relatively poor quality (not saying AM Phantoms are much better these days).

In the end, you get what you pay for. The Stri gauges look a lot like DEFI knockoffs.

As for my 3 Prosport gauges, I've had to send my sending unit for the Boost gauge back twice...

They do have great customer service though (cool)

installation was not hard, considering the only mod I've done to a car was an intake&a bov,it took me around 2 hours, the hardest part was run the sensor wire through the firewall on the driver side, this alone took me 30 mins, mainly becuz the sensor wire has adaptor/connector on both end,but I didn't remove the battery nor did I drill,I just remove the rubber grommet from inside the car and use a thin rob to help pass the wire.

about the gauge,it's a very well made piece and it also matches the interior of our car,it has all the functions I want,peak/warn/dimmer/self calibration...and most importantly it's fairly priced IMO($140,even though I paid like $200 since I'm in Canada,so add shipping, taxes, broker's fee...)

Where did you tap into for the dimmer function (wire colors and locations would be very helpful.)

Tks

I just got the stri gauge today....you got a write up of how you hooked up everything? Would help greatly.

Thanks

LOVE MY PROSPORT. matches perfectly.(sorry for poor quality pics, taken with my blackburry ha)

I sell both lines along with many others. I have seen many different brands of gauges. From my firsthand experience, my professional opinion still stands as is.

The components supplied with the gauge, lines, map sensor, etc are all better in the STRI. The wires in the Prosport are not terminated. The vacuum tubing supplied is some cheap plastic water hose type. The gauge housing isn't machined as good on the bezel. The supplied instructions are written horribly as well, typos, incorrect spelling, etc.

They both do the job. One just does it better.
I have the Prosport. It has served me well in my Evo and now in my MS3. I didn't like the hose they gave me in the kit so I spend a couple dollars to get some new hose....problem solved.(lick)

did the stri gauge come with all the mounting hardware to install it on your dash?

does anyone know the difference between the stri gauge models (dsd-cs black, dsd-slm 2 white model (with the black background still), and the dsd-slm 2 amber model).

It looks like the model he got was the dsd-slm 2 amber model. Can you see the numbers when the gauge is not lit or is the whole display black when not lit?

Nice gauge, not crazy about the location... How is it attached to the dash? Velcro/double sided tape?

Your thinking of Glow-Shift gauges.

I'm running a STRI boost gauge. It had a broken map sensor on the first, and STRI wanted me to send the entire thing back (including wiring harness), rather than just the gauge and sensor. Not cool. Especially because they had a warehouse 50 miles from my apartment. But noooooo. Luckily the shop I went through (horsepowerfreaks.com) in oregon was awesome, and hooked me up with a new one, I attached the sensor, and it worked. So I sent back the new stuff they sent me with the defective map sensor, and they reimbursed me.

Make a note to what I say here. Don't just buy parts online from the cheapest websites. Make sure its a dealer that will help you out in your desperate time of need. (exaggeration).

Oh, and I got the one that reads in psi not bar, and was black faced with white numbers and a red gauge hand. It's an awesome gauge however
