I was compelled to turn the factory manifold into something very useful. Currently I have been fighting back and forth with cracking tubular manifolds due to inclement weather, heat, use of thin material, and overall instability. I worked closely with one of the best machine shops I have come across. The factory manifold was put aside after my motor build and turbo upgrade was complete. After determining that the material was cast steel, this opened the doors to modification without any risks. The 44mm flange was created out of a solid piece of steel rod. After it was forged, it slipped into the manifold like a magazine into a 9mm. There was no movement and the walls of the factory manifold were surprisingly thick. After it was welded in place the internal area was formed in order to not interrupt exhaust flow. I then had the manifold ceramic coated and had two 44mm flanges welded on a stainless steel elbow as seen in the pics. This elbow will position the wastegate lower than if it was sitting on the manifold itself. This is my backup plan in the event the 4.8" tall tial wastegate does not clear my strut bar. All in all it was very exciting to see it come together and will have this installed in the next couple of days.
