MSP SuperStreet Escort SR7 radar detector/shifter install.

Got tired of having a dash/windshield mount radar detector. So while the audio/video system was being redone I had a remote mount Escort SR7 radar detector/shifterinstalled.

Picture of main power and control unit with LED and voice warnings. Mounted just under the ash tray in bottom of center dash.

Pair of front Lazer shifters mounted in bottom grill either side of front license plate. They are the black rectangular sensors that are fitted into the grill. Definately Steath.

Rear Lazer shifter mounted on top of license plate frame.

Radar detector mounted behind the front grill just to the right of the horn. It is invisible when hidden behind the front grill.

IT ISN'T SPEEDING UNLESS YOU GET CAUGHT. (five-0)

LOL - I'm an ol'fart and a pretty responsible driver for the most part. Gotta be a role model for the kid, Right?? 15 years and counting ticket free.

I just picked up a ticket myself. 80 on I-70 through Kansas. It's only 70 through that grusomely boring and flat state. The state patrol was hiding in the center median just beyond the bridge behind some bushes and a slight hill. Didn't see him until I was right on top of him and my Escort 8500 x50 never went off until I saw him too. It was an awesome hiding spot really. bad part is that I had the cruise set at 75. But with the 215/45-17 tires on my ES, add in the speedo error and sure enough I was doing at least 80. Damn it! I forgot about the speedo error.

Got a little bit of "revenge" the next day while on some country 2 lanes. I had the speedo cranked up over 90 and about 3/4 to a mile up ahead I see a car and my detector goes off. The car pulls over onto the grass shoulder. I shed speed down to whatever 5 under the limit was as I came into the cop's range. I couldn't help but press my middle finger up against the glass as I passed the state patrol. If he only knew how fast I was going and I got away!

Why would he? Detectors are legal. I've had it in the car and clearly visible every other time I've been pulled over. First speeding ticket with the detector. He was hiding in a really good spot.

i think they're illegal in pa. maybe im wrong. but i know if a cop saw it here he'd be pissed.

It may have influenced his decision to give me the ticket, but detectors are legal in just about every other state including CO and KS.

I've been pulled over about 14 or 15 times since I started driving. Out of those times, I've only had 3 tickets.

Where did they drill the hole for the rear sensor wire? I have a ZR3 from my last car that i have yet to install; largely b/c I don't want to put too many holes in the metal quite yet. And have you had any water leaking issues from the trunk?

my radar saves my ass all the time. i speed all the time, which is bad because im a cop myself.... but we still get tickets too...

But not as often if you let them know you are also law enforcement. At least that's what my friend (who is a cop) tells me from his experience.

i usuall make my badge "visable" if i get stoped.
its fun when you pull someone who is law enforcement over. and be a total d*ck to them and make them think the're getting the ticket. before you give it to them...... just kidding! the faces you get is all worth it. we play alot of little jokes on each other.

thats awesome. where can i get a setup like that and how much is one if you dont mind me asking? i have a cobra that is on its way out and im looking for new alternatives.

The Escort SR7 and Laser Shifters set-up cost about $800.00 new. You can find them from time to time used on ebay for less. Mine came out of my wife's CL600 when she decided to trade it in for a cadi.

$800.00 is pretty spendy and I don't know if I would have invested in a new set-up myself. But it was a great hand-me-down and its far better in performance and looks than the typical dash mount rader detector that everyone else has.

I only got pulled over in road island lol, 86 in a 65, he lowered it to a 70 in a 65, nice cop IMHO.

There are two listed on ebay with Buy It Now prices of $799.00 and $804.00.
Search under Escort SR7. We purchased my wife's mercedes used with the radar system already installed. When we went to trade it in I had it removed so I could have it install in my Ride.

i got hit with a 62 in a 40 on my way home for thanks giving break
it was a Pa. state tropper and he got me with a written warning for my tint as well...i had to remove it from my front 2 windows and have to have the car inspected and the warning signed and mailed back to the barraks
