Pardon me if this was posted on this forum already. I thought these pics were so rediculus they had to be reposted. I saw this on another mazda forum. Apparently the guy driving the ms3 survived the lady in the rav4 was not so lucky. 70mph head on. google My MS3 accident

Wow that was an amazing story. He is really lucky to walk away from a crash like that.

I remember reading about this, wasn't the lady in the Rav4 doped up or something? And wasn't that guy on his way back from buying it?

He only had it for about 45 min and the lady driving the RAV4 was on some mussel relaxers or something. I would think that he has bad luck since he had to by a new car because a truck backed up on to his last one. Then again, lived through this.

whoa.... that's some serious damage!

i read that story, and needless to say, combined, they hit at 140mph?!

she's doing 70mph, he's doing 70mph...sounds bout right?

or am I wrong? =\

Either way, its too bad the woman didn't make it... amazing.....

70 mph head on is pretty wicked. and yes, its essentially equivalent to 140mph since it was head on. feel bad for the people involved, but it makes me feel more comfortable seeing that, knowing how well it held up at such an intense impact.

someone aught to pm this link over to mazdap5driver after all the s*** he was giving us about subarus being so much safer than the MS3 (lol2)

ps - in the pic of the mazda from the side, it looks kinda like a smart car or a tiny european hatch, with it being so short and the front wheels so far toward the front of the car.

That'll buff right out.

On a serious note, that is unfrigginbelievable that he walked away from that, but just goes to show you how well they design cars to crumple at the right places to absorb the impact.

Amazing. This makes me feel a lot better having just purchased an MS3. My wife and I will have kids one day, and I'm glad to know they'll be carted around in something safe.

It would really suck to lose the car, but it sucks much more to lose your life or the life of a loved one because the car wasn't quite as safe as it could have been.

Those cockpit view shots speak for themselves. Everyone be careful out there!

This is the reason why I don't whine about cars "being heavier" today than they were before.

Seriously amazing, though I hope I never find this out first hand.

I'm also remembering the guy who crashed his ms3 in a lapping session/race when his brakes failed. He was also doing some serious speed and walked away right??

edit: Googled it, and this thread appeared before the original post on the other place....lol

Pretty crazy, if that would have been an offset collision it would have been a lot worse. I doubt the MS3 frame could have taken that collision with only 1/2 (or less) of the body absorbing the impact. At those speeds anyone is lucky to survive.

So where is that junkyard so i can go buy all the usable parts out of that speed? lol

But seriously, i'm glad the speed held up like it did. I know i go quite fast and if something happens, atleast I'm a little safer then I was in my 4runner. haha
