Here is the short story:

My MSP worked perfectly and then broke down. After the rebuild all sorts of problems knocked at the door, some that still haven't been resolved, but that's another thread.

Summer is coming and I tried to turn on the A/C in my car. The green A/C light is lit, but that's about it. If I look under the hood the compressor isn't turning. I tried to switch some relays but still nothing. Running a wire directly from the battery to the compressor to test that starts the compressor and I can hear that the engine gets more load but the A/C is still not working.

I had an A/C service done in December 2006 at the dealer and before the engine rebuild the A/C worked perfectly.

Anyone know what might be my issue?

thanks for any help guys!

You might have a bad switch relay or compressor. I feel your pain as the driving factor behind me getting my MSP was the a/c problem I had in my other car after getting it fixed(yeah right) a few times.

There's been a lot of threads about that switch over the years on here but mainly flickering. Mine does that sometimes but its ice cold still after 5 years.

My light is not flickering. Stays on solid, the A/C just doesn't doo anything else than keep that light on at the moment.

The compressor appear to be working when I run a cable directly to it though. And I tried to switch relays and checked the A/C fuse without finding any issues.

Is it possible that I have a leak that the system has found and because of that refusing to activate, or will it normally start no matter what?

It's getting warmer, any hints at all?

Is there a A/C Control box somewhere that might be my problem?
Does anybody have a wiring diagram for the A/C system?

Really hot now, please help!

you have to check your fuses and wiring. look up a wiring diagram to see what might be linked to the AC / AC clutch power. also your system might need a recharge too. with the car off, supply power to the AC clutch and see if it moves in and out. also check the belt if it has enough tension

if you cant figure it out after that, go to a reputable professional repair shop

Here's what I got. Click on them to make them bigger. Sorry if they get too big. Start on no.7, it gives you troubleshooting for the AC compressor. One more on the next post. But I have a question. When you put power to the compressor was the air getting cold inside the car? If it didn't get cold that way I would think you'd be low on R134.

A/C Troubleshoothing! This might help me a lot, I'll try to go through the list and see if I can find my problem, thanks.

When I connected the compressor manually it put load on the engine but nothing happened to the air inside. Even when I had my engine out the A/C system was sealed the entire time and the refill isn't that old, so I guess that if I'm low on R134 it means that I got a leak. I'll go through the chart and if I can't find it I'll have to refill the system with colored gas.
This might find your leak too blkspdfreak. From what I've heard the refill machine is not supposed to fill the system unless it test leak free on the vacuum test. You might get a refill with colored gas on warranty from the refill place, enjoy a week of cold air and afterwards check for leaks. (That was the way I fixed my parents old car, but in that car the compressor would kick in the entire timem not as my MSP that doesn't even start)

Anyone knows if an empty system will avoid sending power to the compressor?

I read the list and tested most of it withoug finding anything wrong so I drove to a shop who had time today.

Of course the MSP is nowhere to be found in the list we got here, so the guy filled my car like it was a 03 323 which translates to 600 grams of gas. Does this sound like the correct amount?

For those who wants to know: The MSP will not start the A/C if the system is empty!
Now my system is working and I can enjoy cold air, at least for the moment... Since the last refill I used my A/C like 10 hours, I guess this would indicate that I got a leak somewhere and my system will stop working pretty soon. Well, at least this time the gas has a tracer in it.

for future reference.
it is a bad thing to force your compressor on without freon in the system. The pressure relay is designed to protect the system under low charge since the freon is the only source for lubrication in your AC system.

So compare it to running your car motor without oil.

I found my leak. Now I know how to fix it, but to be able to fix it I need the part.

Anyone got the part number for the hose that goes between the Compressor and the Condenser?

that is the same hose that broke in my car. i just went to a a/c repiar shop and had the make a new hose using the connectors
