quick question real quick, i need to buy tires for my P5 wheels that i'm going to be running on my MSP. whats the idea tire size for a 16" wheel on an MSP?
stock ES / Protege5 tire size is 195/50-16. you can fit a 205/50-16 on the rim, but not much wider since its only 6-inches wide.
You can fit 215 series tires on the P5 wheels. Type keep the proper size for a MSP I would suggest 215/50 if possible. Otherwise something like a 205/55 would also work.
i ended up going with a 195/50, i should have any problems with that size would I?
Damn Justin, those are some skinny-ass tires. It's hard enough to hook with 215's. What tires did you go with, and are these your new summer wheels?
If so, want to sell your MSP wheels to me?
are those FD wheels on your car in the signature? did they come non-staggered? love them.
yeah :-/ i just needed something inexpensive, i went with kuhmo v-rated. i'm finally getting the car aligned at RT tomorrow morning to fix my toe issues. i'm gonna invest in a set of spacers to attempt to throw the wheels out as flush as i can get them and run them as a summer setup.
shoot me an offer on the MSP wheels, if you want 'em! i can't make up my mind if i wanna sell them or keep 'em. the tires are shot though, and they have been curbed by the P.O...if i keep them, i'll definitely get them powdercoated.
what size spacers do you think would work the best for what i'm going for?
Nope definitely shouldn't have any problems but as turbolife mentioned they are some narrow tires. Also they are shorter in total height than the stock MSP setup so your speedometer is likely to be off by 1 or 2 mph.i ended up going with a 195/50, i should have any problems with that size would I?
How bad are they curbed? I was hoping to upgrade from my curbed wheels, lol.
5-10mm with longer studs. dont risk having the lugs not tight enough.
im running 215/40/r16 on my p5 wheels. check it out.
you have the best looking exhaust i've ever seen on an MSP, IMO!
I'd recommend 5 mm spacers if you want to go that route. That should bump out the offset to if it were a +45 mm. I'm used to P5 clearances so you may be able to go a little higher with the spacers. +1 on getting the longer studs though.what size spacers do you guys think i should run to have the P5 wheels sit flush with the fender?
Man those are some SHORT wheels! That setup is shorter than the 215/40R17 I'm running on my P5 and I know that is shorter than the stock MSP setup (215/45R17). Your speedometer is probably reading something like 5 mph or so off!im running 215/40/r16 on my p5 wheels. check it out.
