What happened to the mules?

here this pic shows under the hood of the 2nd MSP prototype. Note the black painted engine bay first of all, then the actual metal hardpipes instead of the cheap plastic s***. Then the heatshield on the manifold is just the stock Protege one cut down, and not the final Callaway version. Also the rad hoses were stock rubber, not silicone like the MSP's finally were.

Note this one also doesn't have any of the warning stickers o nthe rad support. That's all I could find from this pic.

From what I could dig a long time ago Callaway tested the car at 9PSI and with hard pipes. MNA ****** it all up, dropped the boost 5PSI (or so) and put those bad plastic pipes on there. Plus they changed the ECU tune and of course the sway bar brackets that Racing Beat designed they took those off to.

I was reading an old SCC, and a black mica MSP they tested was a pre-production mule from Mazda. It was still and MSP, but it had a sunroof in it, and when they showed the underhood pics, it actually had factory hardpipes. THey are the same shape and everythign as the stock ones, but they were black powdercoated (or painted) metal hardpipes. Pretty cool. I'm sure there were more things I forgot to notice, but I was jsut wondering what Mazda did with these "pre-production" cars. They may have been destroyed, but I'm willing to believe there's one sitting under a cover somewhere in the world...
That review of that car is what made me buy mine!

And I still love my MSP to this day!(headbang)

I think they shouldn't have cut costs like they did. I would definitely have enjoyed that setup much more.

What kind of brackets were the RB ones?? How are they different then the ones on the MSP now?

Well they held the bar farther out from where it does now and it did not allow the bar to twist.
To add insult to injury Mazda forbade Racing Beat from selling the kits on the aftermarket.
I have the Delsing kit from way back

So the Delsing kit is practically the same thing that was made from Racing Beat? It it available anymore, the Delsing kit I mean. Perhaps if somone contact RB and asked to get ahold of the brackets you think they would sell them to a customer?? Not like Mazda had them sign something saying they could ever sell it, right?

Well I think they may have :( Racing Beat was under contract to develop the stuff for Mazda and from what I remember Mazda did not allow the brackets to be sold to the public but that was 5 years ago well 7 years ago with the MP3.

Never mind I just saw delsing's website. I'll contact to see if theya re still available. Do you have them installed??
The sway bar endlinks look good too...
Dang seems like the website hasn't been update in awhile.

So I'm assuming the Delsing ones aren't available either??
How much did you pay for your set yash??

I paid 160.00 for mine new. And yes I have them installed. They are freaking awesome! I need to grease my bushings again but they have zerk fittings on them so I just crawl under the car, attach the hose and them pump it in.

He even made his own 13'' brakes for the MSP.

Sounds a lot easier than what I have to deal with all the freaking time ... i'm anti bushings.
