FMIC Finally installed!!!

FMIC is finally installed.

The biggest problem is the that the GT turbo isn't in the same location as the stocker. So the turbo out pipe didn't line up properly since the turbine is shifted slightly. For this, I have it pretty good now, but I will need a better hose to go from turbo to the discharge pipe. I need one that goes straight up.

I also added a little bracket up front where it mounts to the intake manifold to shift it slightly. Now the pipe is rubbing a bit on the TMIC ducting.

On the discharge pipe, I drilled a hole and tapped for my pressure source since the Garrett doesn't have one like the stocker.

I also added the CPE CAI, I had to do some cutting to make it fit. It was either cut the CAI, or cut my ATP inlet. Seeing as how CAI is less expensive and easier to get at I opted to cut the CAI. This allowed it to line up just about perfect. I had to do an angle cut, plus about 1 inch beyond where the crankcase connects.

And that damn snap ring!!!! Those should be illegal to use, I hate those things.

Next thing is to clean up the engine bay cause it's filthy.....and install my 1 step colder plugs.

awesome. is there any reason you had to cut? does everyone with a CPE intake and CPE FMIC have to do that?

lame that ATP didn't engineer the inlet pipe to be in the same spot?

had to cut mine as well but i have an AEM intake.. had to do all the same kind of cutting but it came out good and the couplers and air filter hide it all.. its been working for like 3 months now.. and i agree it would be nice to see ATP devlop something that would mate up with the intakes.

The only problem with with making it mate up to other CAIs is that it won't mate up to the stock airbox if needed.

I kind of liked running my stock airbox for a time.

So I guess it was a 'pick your poison' type of deal when they designed it?

What are your driving impressions of the FMIC? I know alot of people have this, but I like to hear comments.

I like it so far, but honestly I haven't even gotten on it yet. But definetely, the characteristics of the car are a bit different.

I am running a bit less boost than I was as I cranked it completely down after the install. So know I don't see above 12psi on the car.

It's running balls out though from what I can tell. I have noticed any significant lag. But I will be willing to bet it will spool a wee bit slower than the TMIC did?

With all u guys that did front mount, did u tune ur cars yet? if so how much hp did u guys get?

More pics after engine bay refreshner......
