During a routine check of my engine, I found 2 issues.
1. The first rubber hose on the Mazdaspeed CAI kit rubs on the white electrical connector housing below the hose and next to the front right corner of the battery box. This hose is the slightly bent one that is closest to the turbo Inlet pipe. I found a gouge in the hose where it was impacting the sharp corner of the electrical connector below. Over time, this may wear through the hose. I re-adjusted the hose so with the bend going more upward to get more clearance from the corner of the connector. I also shaved off the corner of the connector making it blunt. (I'll include pictures on a later post).
2. The last hose clamp in the intake system, on the tubo inlet (attached directly to the turbo) was loose. I could move the hose on and off the turbo inlet by simply moving my CAI from the polished tube (the one with the Blue MAZDASPEED lettering). This could allow debris into the engine over time causing premature wear. After many attempts to tighten the hose, I realized that there is no way to tighten it enough without damaging the hose under the clamp. The dramatic engine movement under acceleration and mechanical advantage of the long intake is just to great to keep this connection from breaching. ( will include pictures on a later post) I included a generic engine picture with this point circled.
I have some questions for those more experienced MS owners:
I wonder if the stiffer engine mounts will reduce or eliminate these problems?
Does Mazda know about these issues?
Does this happen on the Mazdaspeed 6?
