MAZDA PORTEGE 5
just bought a mazda protege 5 and im wondering on what type of suspension to by. im on a budget so you have any good idea let me know. im kind of picky so i want lowering springs but im affraid that the front is going to be higher than the rear same thing happen to my acura integra 4 door. so if any body have any good idea please let me know. thanks

I have had:
Tein S-Techs
Skunk2 Coil Overs
Ground Control Coil Overs
K-Sports
And soon Tein Basics...

All I can say is don't go cheap, it'll kick your ass in the end. (nuts)

Espilir or Eibach Pro kit is good if you are looking for springs only.

how was the ride on the tein cuz like my girl she cant handle the roughness and i really dont mind about handling i just want the comfort and look so what you think i should get i just hate it when the rear is lower than the front.

S-Techs?

The ride was okay I guess. I think anytime you change the suspension for better handling, it will get a little stiffer. The rear rides higher also (see attached) The blue p5 had Skunks... horrible ride.

The Basics, when I rode in my friend's car, felt awesome.

well what do you think about the blue tanabe it said it well give me a quailtiy ride and my car would be lower with out the sacrifice of my stock comfort. also do you know anybody selling a CF lip or hood also some black housing headlights for my P5 because like your friend has the exact color i have. im new at this ive been building honda like all my life so i decied to take a change and went with a p5 dont know why really but so far im loving it any good idea for my ride???

For the black housing...look in to the "How to" section... I'm on the Eibachi Pro-kit ($209)from Protegegarage.com - Ken's on the board as Captain KRN (if I'm correct). Shoot'm a PM

how do you like the ride or "comfort" of those spings because like i dont want them too aggressive and i like the set up you have i have something like that in mind, is that the mp3 speed exhaust you have/ and did you do the head lights yourself?

Eibachi kit would be the best drop spring set up with looks and handling. and maybe later upgrade shocks for better balance. but if you got the cash to spend, get Tein SS coilovers!

When you say "springs only" do you mean they'll work okay with stock struts? I want to do springs sometime soon, but I really can't afford to get illuminas and I know there are some KYBs out there too, but I am on a pretty tight budget. My car has 60k miles on it, and I don't really want to replace the struts until maybe 100k, but if I added Eibachs or Espilirs (or Goldlines) would I be able hang on to the stock struts until 100k? Any other recommendations for springs with stock struts?

I have Goldlines with stock struts at 73k and so far no problems. I am planning on upgrading the struts when I have the money and will probably be changing springs as well when I do. I had the same problem, I wanted it dropped now but didn't have the money for the struts, and ive been ok for what... atleast 10k? I think, somewhere around that.

Yeah, the drop is a little low and I can't have as wide of tires as I would like but overall the drop is excelent and the handling (with the 22mm rear bar) is kick ass, but it was still nice with the stocker rear sway bar in. Im happy, but I will be moving on to tiens or something when I get new struts because ive heard bad things about Goldlines paired with blues, but on stock stuts there great. Oh, and as for the extra weight from having a P5? Its still a nice drop, I got these springs from JOMO originally and they looked killer on his P5 as well. I have a few threads about my springs, check them out.

I paid 120$ shipped for my megan racing springs from speedcutcuit.com but you need some tokico illuminas to dampen then enough...

whats the drop on the eibach springs? because its a four door car and i went through so many set up on my old integra and i hated the rear being lower than the front because i had springs and for some apparent reason the rear was always lower so i had to go springs in the front and coilovers in the rear just to make it look right i dont want to do the same with my P5 so any suggestion on what type of springs i really dont like coilover because the ride is to rough for my girl and well she cant handle it so any suggestion also for now im just looking for springs no need for shocks.

Going on 95,000 miles on stock struts with the Eibach pro-kit. I got no complaints so far. Probably go new struts in the Spring but they seem to be holding up OK. I wouldn't call the ride harsh, it's stiffer for sure but not harsh really........
