Its the EGR, it recirculates exhaust back into the intake for emission purposes. Did you break the pipe or the nut? Either way the nut isnt removeable so you will need to replace the whole thing.

EGR yes, valve no. The valve is on the intake manifold. What did you break? We are just talking about a pipe and nut here. What happened?

It can be fixed if you had plenty of time at your local home depot... but your best bet it to purchase another EGR pipe. Check with Mazmart.com or onlinemazdaparts.com or protegegarage.com (send a PM to captain KRM p5)

Yeah, my bad lol, I knew I was gonna say something wrong:)

Im guessing he broke the nut, theres really noting else to break. Is it possible to get a new nut if that is the case? Because I know it wont come off that end of the pipe, is it possible to reomve it from the intake end?

The problem is that the pipe has a flare on the end holding the nut on. He could replace this nut assuming he could find one with the proper flange on the top end... and re-flare the pipe.

Yeah, probably better off replacing the whole thing. I couldn't really find the oem part number for the pipe, anyone have it?

i broke the pipe right at the nut, the nut is fine but pipe is ripped, i was thinking about flaring it and putting it back on the nut. will this work. what wil happen if i dont get this fixed right now

You can do that but it may be hard as hell to bend the pipe to the EGR threading on the exhaust manifold.
You'll throw a CEL in the longrun.

Replace the whole tube. It can be a pain to get off, and to install.

2nd that. It was a %&^*^& to get to come off and took hours....you could always just cap both ends off and just run without it, but you'll throw a cel...and noone likes extra lights...

anyone got a part number for the tube, i cant find it anywhere

go to the montgomery mazda section or pm ken and ask them, you'll get the exact number, price, and delivery time.

I did that same thing. I broke the tube off at the header. I used a pipe wrench, wrench and a peace of a 2x4 to hold it in place and got it off. The welder at the shop charged 20 bucks to reweld it on and fix a few other cracks. So yea it can be fixed.
