Ingalls Engine Torque Damper Feeler Thread

:
07 CX7 GT AWD W/Tech Pkg; 03.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
Ok, so after analyzing my options to limit the movement of our engines and a desire to minimize cabin vibration due to the Urethane Motor mount option, I went looking for an engine damper. Obviously there is already the WeaponR product on the market for our cars but everything I've read is that either the mounts break or the strut stops working properly or that it just doesn't do anything.
Continuing the research on this topic I came across the Ingalls Stiffy strut unit that has been used by our Evo and WRX compatriots for a while now with siginificant success. I reached out to Ingalls to inquire about what I could do to modify one to fit our cars.
Grant from Ingalls got back to me right away to let me know they've been looking into doing something for our car but weren't sure of the interest level yet. He asked me to post up an interest thread to see if we could get 75-100 people interested as well as one person in the Denver area to use as an R&D car. If we can generate this level of interest in their product and provide an R&D vehicle to test fit with he assured me this would get done.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm all about this product being made for our cars so please anyone who would be interested add your name to this list and lets get yet another quality product made for the Protege. Also if anyone wants to link this to other Protege forums feel free as I know as a community we have the people with enough interest required to get it made!

depending on price i'd be interested. the problem here, is that there's no way 100 people will commit to that.

I don't think they're looking for 75-100 people ready to buy this second, more that there's that many of us interested in doing it. In terms of price, based on the other applications they run between $150-180. Most are cheaper than the WeaponR also.

Yes they do, but everyone who has used it says it's a waste of $200, and that has been the resounding response from other applications of it as well. The mounts are thin and snap and the strut itself has actually come apart in some instances...

well if it has better brackets and s***, i'd be down if around 150.00... so let us know. looks decent if nothing else.

If you do some searching on it you'll come up with only positive reports from other communities. do a google for Ingalls Stiffy damper and you should get the right hits... the EVO guys love this thing

I looked on their website and the cheapest one listed was $222.47 with the most expensive being $406.12. I would be interested but not at those prices. Keep us updated.

Also, here's an install/review of the ingalls unit for the Evo:

I like the idea of the entire plate install.. like that in the first picture here-

looks good. that's the type of thing i'd want for my car.

It's just the adjustability the overall quality of the materials, it's just a better package for the same price point I like that you can get the support you need for your engine without having to always drive around with extra vibration in your cabin due to stiff motor mounts

I was just wondering about this exact type of product. And I would definitely be game. Would it affect the car negatively? Broken welds on exhaust etc.

I'm interested, it helps slow down the impacts from the vibration making the engine move less is always helpfull.

Yah, the plates are great ideas. I'd be down, but yah, 100 people is hard to get.
