What is Wrong with me????

I need an intervention people.

First a little back story.

When the time came for me to give my trusty 96 G20 to my sis, I was happy cuz I got to go car shopping. I was originally in the market for a mazda milleniaS. I was just really into them at the time. A friend of mine had a silver P5 that I thought was a pretty fun ride. The cars character just won me over. A few weeks later I had purchased an 02 Pure White P5 with 35K on the odo but in PERFECT condition. No dings, dents, scratches and just clean as a pin.

But almost a year later, the lack of power is starting to nag me. I know I could get into mods but I'm newly married and I just want a stock daily driver with some pep to it.


Okay with that said heres my dilema. For the past few months I've had an unhealthy obsession with .... oh I'm embarrased to say this...... The Dodge Neon SRT4!!

I mean I know the interior is crap and I know it's just a neon but man that little firecracker of a motor is calling my name and unlike most, I actually think it's a cool looking car. I mean those tailpipes and that intercooler.

Even though I promised my wife I'd stick with the P5 until it was paid off, I'm really starting to get an itch.

So basically I need you guys to tell me why this is a bad idea. I just need to get it out of my head.

In another year you are going to post up complaining that the rental car interior is starting to nag you, you will get the itch for some other car, you will still have payments and you will be getting about 20mpg on a good day, your car insurance rates will be higher. If money isn't an issue go for it. But if you just got married you are better off living with what you have and putting the money torward bigger things... a house maybe? If you really are getting board with the P5... maybe just put a mod or two under the hood to curb your appetite. A couple small mods will cost alot less than buying an entirely different car.

yea i'm done with cheap/fast cars and cheap interiors. my next car is going to be a bmw or a benz. i'd get one now if my msp was paid off. i don't care about rarity anymore. apparently, rarity sucks, coz otherwise, people wouldnt be selling the car for thousands less than they are worth. as far as the srt4 goes, if you like it, go for it. it's defintely a nice fast car but the interior is really just bad. i think kia have better interiors now

you may not enjoy the lack of power in the p5, but it'll be on the road long after the SRT explodes. Neons have horrendous build quality..

Already bought a house. That was a priority. But yeah getting a new car would not be a wise financial move right now and there is no way in heck I could afford an MS3.

Okay, I think it's begining to pass. I just stepped outside my job to take a quick look at my P5 and it's as good looking as ever. I think the madness is leaving me. I'll just keep repeating

Don't buy the Neon - this too shall pass. I know how you feel though. I've been dying to have a truck for many moons now. But the practical side in me reminds me that I have a P5 with 44K miles and it's paid off. Not to mention the fuel economy of a truck. Ah, the grass is always greener...

As slow as the P5 may be, I still think it's sexy with the right mods. Yeah, the lack of power does get on your nerves after a while, but if you think about it, so does every car in that price range or class. Horsepower is addictive, no matter WHAT you plan on buying... it's NEVER enough... just remember that. So put a few body mods on, a CAI and good muffler and lower it a bit. It's not as expensive as say a turbo kit and you won't risk the chance of it blowing up. But it's the little things and small changes every few weeks or months which will keep you in love with your car. It's the same as a marriage. Just don't go trading your wife in after a year either. lol

Oh and as for my darlig wife, we've been married 8 mos now and I would not trade her for the world. Besides she found my P5 for me when I was car hunting so I guess you could say she introduced me to my second love.

Wow she's beautiful... congrats man! Ya the P5 may lack some ooopfh, but once you get up to speed you can keep it though the corners
