ChefChris hooked me up with a new valve cover. He painted a valve cover in high heat red, clear coated it, primered the breather pipe, and gave it to me to install a month ago. I finally installed it this morning. Attached are the before and after pics. The ebay Mazdaspeed oil cap was off 90 degrees, so off the sticker went. Looks a lot better.

All in all, a great mod. What do you all think?

Lookin good. I have a valve cover I still need to paint. Trying to decide between laser blue, or bronze. I have the same oil cap, and I agree... much better w/out the ghetto sticker.

yeah, got a little scratch ont he cap, but looking to replace it with a Raiders sticker when I find it. Of course, PB DSR to remove the decal glue.

Nice work. I've got the opposite theme going. Red intake, polished valve cover with red lettering.

With all that red under the hood, I forget I'm looking at a "Raiders" vehicle. j/k (Raiders do have red practice jerseys.)

It probably looks good in person, the pics don't seem to do it justice. Also, the header looks out of place now (colorwise).

Wow your stock valve cover is so much cleaner than mine. Mine is just so gross with salt and stuff. I need to buy a spare to get powdercoated or to wrinkle paint myself.

Selling your old one? :D

high res pics, not 56K

I am too lazy to polish the valve cover. You can clean it pretty easy, or even take it for a quick sandblasting at most shops. been kept clean with Simply Green for 3.5 years now. My old one is being cleaned and kept until I sell, trade in, or total the car and need a swap.

The header will be wrapped in black header wrap soon. The red theme just goes to match the strut bar and other engine compartment stuff.

The only red jersey in the Raiders camp is the QB jersey. Thank God Kerry Collins is no longer wearing it...

I got high resolution pics attached that look better.

Ractive header, eh?

Your header doesn't rub up against the seam between your oil pan and block huh. I can't seem to get mine to fit better.

nope, mine fits perfectly. i was unaware of the problem of fitment. Odd thing is, you cannot get them anywhere at all now.

Wait, aren't the OBX backordered right now too? Sucks for anyone who wants a header.

pretty much sucks yeah. The Tsudos are on ebay now tho. I am just trying to source black wrap that does not cost a buttload for handling and s***. hmmmm

I have header from coaters about how wraps suck. But I have seen it last a long time too, and work.

Well, I have not totally decided to wrap. I looked into Jet-Hott, and it is about $200 to have done. Looks awesome, too. But I do not have a header to use while having it coated, and heck, I am not really wanting to deal with shipping it.

If you ask me in 6 months how the header wrap is doing, I will probably tell you I am getting it soon then too! lol.

until then, I will keep dreaming of stuff to do...

Raider, great job on the engine bay. I've had my MP5 for just over a month now and still putting it through rehab. I changed out the cold-air intake for a short-air intake like the one you have. My old Honda had a cold-air intake which was fine in LA but after the first blast across PA in the snow to NYC, the filter was covered in road grime of the worse wintery kind. Up goes the filter!

How is yours supported, or is it. I hate having things just hanging in the engine bay. I've got ideas, but looking for suggestions.
