intake filter and adapter

I was wondering if it was worth putting a performance intake filter and adapter onto my stock filter. I dont know if its worth doing this or buying the entire intake with tubing. I like the adapter idea becasue I dont have to worry about the wiring hookups on the intake, all im doing is modifying the front portion.

I have another question: What does the stock air filter look like? I never have opened the box that surrounds it. Could I just take the box off and leave it?

I just have the front portion of the intake system. I'm using stock parts from the Mass Air Flow sensor back.

It made things a bit quieter, yet no noticable sacrifice in performance (don't expect any at all actually).

Here's a picture of one of my early stages. It's not like this anymore but it worked ok.

The "regular Ractive" is the SRI system.

Quick Q. Can you polish a intake....Mine is red and Iam done with the color!!!Can this be done.....And getting a full intake setup is a great performance mod..Specialy the injen, loved the sound and the response

Here's my old LX's intake. All you have to do is tuck the bullet-shaped sensor into the inside of the filter. (can't recall what it is offhand, but if you take your intake apart, you'll see it.) Either you can stick it directly inside the filter when you slide it onto the stock pipe, or drill into the back of the filter and insert it that way. This will prevent you from getting a Check Engine Light (CEL). Is this what you're trying to do?
