Nology Hot Wires

I'm considering getting a set of Nology Hot-Wires (w/ the Coil on plug conversion). Has any1 done this? Any problems w/ the install? And most importantly, did you notice any performance increase?

i think there is a recent thread on this... spark plug wires from what i understand are not gonna do anything for power for a basic NA engine. it'll look nice though!

I have had it for over a year from the very first gb. easy install and smoothed out the car

I know they won't boost peak power, but I've read that they're supposed to beef up the mid range by a decent amount, and I was just trying to find out if they actually did what they said or not.

My idle was a lot smoother afterwards. Other than that, I did not notice any significant gains in performance.

Please excuse the dirty engine bay. Here's a pic:

I will do no such thing. j/k. Where'd u get the blue wire wrap? That's kinda cool.

wow, those wires don't get heat damaged from sitting over the headers like that?

well, because you normally run a colder plug on F/I applications. These are even hotter than the stock plugs. but I think you only really have to worry about it if you turn the boost up and than fear detonation

I was thinking the same thing...

It's just wire loom. I've just picked up some new brackets to make 'em look nice and straight going across the cam cover. I tried finding the loom online but it wasn't and cheaper, so I got the overpriced stuff at O'Riely's. It doesn't hold up very well. It's basically black loom dipped in chrome and sprayed with a translucent blue. It looked good until I pulled the engine and stuff started flaking like crazy. I found some nicer stuff in Jegs, but you have to split that yourself.

I made a little bracket to keep them away. It's not pretty but it works. It was just a piece of scrap left over from when I installed my garage door opener. It's not pretty but it works. I plan on putting something nicer in at a later date.

Would that even be an issue if u had the stock header w/ the heatshield?

i suppose that makes sense. so F/I cars shouldn't run any sort of wire upgrade?

It'd still be close, but the heatshield would deflect the majority of the heat. The angle of the picture makes them look a lot closer than they are.

vindication - are your's close to the header or manifold heatshield?

Not necessarily. The wires are supposed to help deliver a "hotter spark". Colder plugs has more to do with the heat range of the plug. . . basically the plug's heat transfer abilities.

There's a different kit for the MSP that relocates the coils to the rear of the engine bay.

just an FYI, the hotwires are not a good idea for the mp3 or the msp.

I was thinking about getting them. I am wondering why they are not a good idea on the MP3? I have a MP3 ECU in my P5.

As for the heat that is not a problem for me. I have my header jet hot ceramic coated. I can run my car and then touch my fingernail to the header and not get burned. My engine bay is cooler now than when I had the stock manifold and heatshield.
